TWA Flight 800 investigators break silence in new documentary, claim original conclusion about cause of crash is wrong
A group of whistleblowers, including a number of aviation experts, have come forward in a new documentary to claim that the official explanation for the crash of TWA Flight 800 was wrong and a gas tank explosion did not bring down the flight off the coast of Long Island 17 years ago.
However, the six whistleblowers, all part of the original investigation team, stopped short of saying the plane was shot down.
Flight 800, a Boeing 747, had just taken off from JFK airport with 230 people aboard on July 17, 1996 enroute to Paris when it exploded and crashed off the coast of nearby East Moriches, Long Island, killing everyone on the plane.

I don't know, this sounds more like a commercial for a TV show.

There was a documentary on the History Channel or one of those channels that I watched in the past year. There were a bunch of people who claimed they were experts on the subject. And they all said they were convinced it was a terrorist attack.

What was the most likely chain of events has never happened to a 747 before or since. Nothing even similar has occurred. I don't believe it was some kind of mechanical or structural failure.

That's my basic problem with it.

At the time, if memory serves, it was thought the navy, in a live fire exercise, shot it down. Complete with pictures of missiles streaking toward the plane. It might be nice to know.

History is rife with events that were reported incorrectly when they happened. The battleship Maine was not blown up by Cuba, yet that is why we went to war with Spain in the Spanish American War. There is strong circumstantial evidence that Roosevelt knew of the pending attack on Pearl Harbor. He let it happen to draw America into the war. The Gulf of Tonkin conflict that lead to America's involvement in Vietnam also did not happen as first reported. Now we have Benghazi where the truth is not what was originally reported. There is a disturbing pattern here where government puts out the message it wants its citizens to hear. The government version is often not the true version of events.

Reasons I will not fly.
Most important is I cannot clear my ears when the plane descends too rapidly, agony , loss of coordination and ear bleeds.
I will not travel into the Mountains including my own State as the speed of the car and the elevation instead of making my ears pop, cause very bad headaches.
Reason No.2. I do not want to be shut up in a cabin sitting on a runway for hours waiting to take off. Horror story's, no bathrooms, no heat or air conditioning, young children screaming for hours at a time. No way to get off, go into the terminal and get cool or warm, have a drink or smoke a cigarette or Pee.
Air travel is so unnatural to me today, none of this stuff was happening when I would not give a thought to flying around half the world with my kids, I cannot count the times I just grabbed the kids and hopped aboard a plane, but, I was most younger then and had no idea of the problems that we have today.
All the fun in life has been taken from us at our expense. My kids go on cruses every year or so, they can swim but cannot fly, yet the last 2 they have been on they or their Spouse have become ill the last couple days of the cruse.
Out of the blue air travel and going by sea has become so dangerous, in air travel old folks and Nuns are stripped down bare arsed naked to be able to fly, not to mention the toddlers that are scared out of their wits having strangers groping their privates.
Then the expensive cruses where people disappear, and the survivors come back sick. My very best friend and Hubby spent a boodle of money to go on a cruse, the Captain drove them into the outside edges of a near hurricane.
What a story she had to tell, the cruse was for 5 days to the British islands and on the way home the crew refused to stay in port and bullied their way through rough seas.
Main dining room a life boat slammed into the windows shattering glass, the pitch and Yaw was so great the shops selling expensive items had their display cases fall and shatter.
Friends were in a cabin over the upstairs kitchens and heard things rolling about over head. No water to the cabins, toilets stopped working and there was no food service.
Elevators stopped working so anyone with any kind of handicap could not leave their rooms. It took a day extra to reach port, meanwhile everyone had to wear life vests at all times. She told me they could not get any sleep as every 2 hours a horn would blow and everyone had to stand in the hall outside their rooms. Hungry, dehydrated and terrified.
Cost for an interesting voyage was about $2,000 bucks. That includes air fare and they had to wait 2 hours on the ground before they could take off.
Me I want to see the USA from my car or Am track, the heck with the rest of the world, there is too much to see at our back door.

Correct why go to any place off shore when one has not seen the whole USA.
So much to see and learn here, why bother to head for another continent when one knows little about our birth home and its history ?
So one can spend a fortune traveling the world to see what was 800 years ago, but when it comes to really looking at the majesty of America and all it has to and has offered they come up short, there is nothing to see any where that beats the Grand Tetons or the tremendous wheat fields in the mid west.
See America first, then if one lives long enough head out, if one must.

If that were actually the case it would have been better to just admit it and take the lumps.
Covering-up such a thing would inevitably make it worse.

It wouldn't be the first time the USN accidentally shot down a commercial airliner. But in that case they were almost all muslim. I found it difficult to gather sorrow over that.

Why does everyone assume it was USN?

I've heard it said on several news sources

That happened during Clinton's Admin. So did the Oklahoma City bombing, which I still believe that there was more to it, than we were told.
I'm not saying that McVeigh didn't do it, but that there were more people behind it.
The FBI and CIA have a way of disappearing evidence and people.

I've only heard a few mentions of McVeigh's ties to Islamic terrorists, but not sure I believe that.

He (McVeigh) made a trip to the Philippines, and met with radical muslims. That lead wasn't followed through to a conclusion for whatever reason.

I do not doubt that there were other people involved as well.

I have read that Terry Nichols lived in the Philippines and had met with Abu Sayyaf. Not sure if there is a connection to that.

Kind of like Obama's FBI couldn't find a problem with the Boston Bombers even though the Russians warned us about them.
Seems like Democrat Presidents are willing to let Americans die.

Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols were not the lone conspirators in the Oklahoma City bombing-the attack that killed nearly 170 people in a few short seconds. They were part of a greater scheme, one which involved Islamic terrorists and at least one provable link to Iraq. This book, written by the relentless reporter who first broke the story of the Mideast connection, is filled with new revelations about the case and explains in full detail the complete, and so far untold, story behind the failed investigation-why the FBI closed the door, what further evidence exists to prove the Iraqi connection, why it has been ignored, and what makes it more relevant now than ever. Told with a gripping narrative style and rock-solid investigative journalism and vetted by men such as former CIA director James Woolsey, Davis's piercing account is the first book to set the record straight about what really happened April 19, 1995.
