In the summer of 2002, eight months before the invasion and occupation of Iraq, I co-authored a book titled "War on Iraq: What Team Bush Doesn't Want You to Know" with former weapons inspector Scott Ritter. The book we created, to this day, was dead-bang right not only about Iraq's lack of WMD, about Iraq's lack of al Qaeda connections, but very accurately predicted the bloodbath shitshow that would take place if the invasion and occupation were to take place. Eleven years later, that book stands up to any test you want to give it, and it was Scott Ritter who provided the facts that make the book absolutely unimpeachable.
The final two paragraphs of Scott Ritter's Wikipedia page:
Ritter was detained in April 2001 and arrested in June 2001 in connection with police stings in which officers posed as under-aged girls to arrange meetings of a sexual nature. The first incident did not lead to any charges. He was charged with a misdemeanor crime of "attempted endangerment of the welfare of a child" after the second, but charges were dropped after he completed six months of probation and the record was sealed on condition that he avoid further trouble for a period of time. After this information was made public in early 2003, Ritter said that the timing of the leak was politically motivated.
Ritter was arrested again in November 2009 over communications with a police decoy he met on an Internet chat site. Police said that he exposed himself via a web camera after the officer said she was a 15-year-old girl; Ritter said he was not made aware of the ostensible age of his correspondent before the act. The next month, Ritter waived his right to a preliminary hearing and was released on a $25,000 unsecured bail. Charges included "unlawful contact with a minor, criminal use of a communications facility, corruption of minors, indecent exposure, possessing instruments of crime, criminal attempt and criminal solicitation". Ritter rejected a plea bargain, testified in his trial and was found guilty of all but the criminal attempt count in a Monroe County, Pennsylvania courtroom on April 14, 2011. In October 2011 he received a sentence of one and a half to five and a half years in prison.

I am not going to speak to Ritter's guilt or innocence regarding these charges; he had a lawyer and a trial and a jury, and it is what it is. But the revelation in February 2003 effectively removed him, and our book, from the debate over the war a month before the war kicked off...and the book was right, he was right, we were right, and now a lot of people are dead even though we were right.
Scott Ritter's personal failings doomed his message. The people who wanted to entomb him in shit to shut him up did not have to work hard to do so...but even with all that shit, there remains the pesky fact that he was 100% spot-on correct about the war, its aftermath and its eventual outcome.
People are currently attempting to entomb Snowden in shit because they don't like his message...and no one has accused him of anything even remotely as serious as what Ritter was accused and eventually convicted of...and yet so many have already decided he's just another shitbag to be ignored.
My point: separate the man from the message. Scott Ritter was a deeply flawed man according to the courts, but a lot of people would be alive if his message had been allowed to stand on its merits instead of getting dragged down and erased with him.
Snowden is one thing. His message is another. As someone with personal experience in watching a good message get destroyed by attacks on the messenger, I implore you not to let it happen in this case.
I don't give a damn about Snowden, and I don't give a damn about Ritter.
I give many damns about the information they have to offer.
As should you.

Velma: (pulls off mask) "Jinkies! The Creepy Pedo Bear is really the author, Scott Ritter!"
Scooby: "Rut Row!"

Beat me to it. You have to wonder how Scotty & Willy came together in the first place.

It's rather late in the day for the Bostonian Drunkard to be talking about this.

I've been watching Skins's island like a hawk, since the news broke yesterday (Thursday) about a colleague of the Bostonian Drunkard getting into some, uh, trouble.
There's been some campfires on Skins's island about the matter, but conspicuous by his non-presence is the one who knows the former arms-inspector better than anybody else on Skins's island, and out here in the civilized world.
When one's pal is in trouble, one is morally and socially obligated to stick up for him.
Otherwise, one's about as false and fake as a Bela Pelosi promise.
One's lower than dog excresence on the ground, if one doesn't stand up for a pal.

I heard the story this way:
It seems Pitt rented a crotchless raccoon suit from an adult costume shop, and left one of his hand-lettered "Willlie E. Pitt, Sooper Genius" business cards in the pocket. Ritter was the next person to rent the suit, found the card.... and viola'! A criminal conspiracy to commit indecent acts with underaged girls was born!

That book, for which Pitt's mother, DUmmy Raven, paid a vanity publisher to run off a thousand copies, would surely have stopped the war.
DUmmy Pitt, DUmmy Raven, and maybe pedo Ritter would have read it and been profoundly affected. Of course no one else would have known it existed.
But it would have stopped the war nonetheless.
Pitt is just so lucky that his dalliances with the middle school girls where he was a substitute teacher didn't land him in prison alongside Ritter.
According to his sockpuppet post at the DUmp, he came within a gnat's eyelash of meeting Chris Hansen up close and personal.
The girls' parents appparently did not want them to testify in criminal proceedings.
The only result was Pitt being blackballed from teaching, hasn't earned a dime since, and has become a hopeless, unemployable alcoholic.
It's really satisfying to see what a miserable mess he's made of his life.
Freudenschade!

The delusional bastard actually believes that if only his buddy didn't get caught trying to pick up preteen girls his little book would have stopped a war.

His buddy is as bright as that other mental giant, Bret Favre.
They both know the way to a girl's heart is an e-mailed dick pic.

Wow, just wow!
Really Willie, I thought this was below even you. Three times, and the third time the authoritis have taped footage of Ritter showing his Willie off on the internet, along with logs proving he was told she was fifteen before that. Yet, you stand here and defend him. Anyone else would have denounced the contact for professional and personal reasons, and wouldn't mention any past collaborations.
Your (collectively, you and the pedophile) work would have done nothing to stop the war. First off, how do you know that the Iraqi's didn't compromise the pedophile and let him have access to young girls, for a price? It wouldn't be the first time something like that happened.
Second, the causus belli and the reasons to actually go to war are not always readily apparent. Afghanistan is, and always shall be, a logistical trap for any regular army that goes into it. It's population is hostile to outside contact, it is surrounded by people that are not now, nor likely ever reliable allies of the US. We needed a place where our large conventional army would hold most of the cards against a jihadi army. We have pretty good logistics capability into Iraq, the population is relatively centralized, and the dictator of Iraq was stupid enoughto keep handing us reasons to smack him down.
Third, Iraq actually was almost done with before those idiots at Abu Gharib stirred up muslims and gave them a good reason not to ever surrender. The leader of the Mahdi Army couldn't find enough support before that, so your statement about it being a bloodbath aren't right there either.
Go back to drinking Will, it's the one thing in your life that your good at.
-
Will...how do you explain away the article Pedo-Ritterwrotefor Playboy that accurately predicted we'd be back in Iraq within 5 years (this was 1997) if we didn't strictly monitor Iraq's WMD programs? how do you explain the fact he was for it before he was against it?

It doesn't matter if Scott Ritter has a penchant for 12 year old girls.
He needs to be taken VERY seriously!

That's right, because Pitt shares that penchant, and we know he must be taken VERY VERY seriously.
