Oh my.

The primitives are ignoring the cousin's campfire, probably because like franksolich, they have no idea what she's yapping about.

Press the flesh

Came near the end. Hayden sort of spilled the beans as to where this is going. You see, they might have to be less efficient to be more transparent. The public, it seems, is really troubled by this...

So it has to be politically sustainable.

Oh and yes, that General Hayden. They got caught and they can't put the toothpaste back, so the effort will be about making it "acceptable." I see this as phase two of the propaganda campaign.

Anybody know?

Some sort of grassfire in the senate?

That's as good a guess as any.

I thought the cousin might be talking about her underwear, though.

Which about as good a guess as any other.

I think she's talking about the NSA free international data backup plan.  I just need to know who to call when my computer crashes so they can send my free backup.

Ok, I have to ask, because I must have missed it somewhere along the lines:

Why do you call nads your cousin?

What does nads mean by propaganda...

"Propaganda becomes ineffective the moment we are aware of it"
--Joseph Goebbels (1897-1945)

"If consumers are aware that they are being propagandized, the choice to accept or reject the message is theirs alone."
--Jowett & O'Donnell

"Good propaganda must keep well ahead of actual political events. It must act as a pacemaker to policy and mould public opinion, without appearing to do so."
--General Erich Ludendorff (1865-1937) (from Lasswell)

"The first casualty during war is truth"
--Attributed as old saying -Jowett & O'Donnell-

"The rank and file are more primitive than we imagine. Propaganda must therefore always be essentially simple and repetitious. In the long run only he will achieve basic results in influencing public opinion who is able to reduce problems to the simplest terms and who has the courage to keep forever repeating them in this simplified form despite the objections of intellectuals."
--Joseph Goebbels (from P&A)

"The receptivity of the great masses is very limited, their intelligence is small, but their power of forgetting is enormous. In consequence of these facts, all effective propaganda must be limited to a very few points and must harp on these slogans until the last member of the public understands what you want him to understand by your slogan."
--Adolf Hitler (Mein Kampf Vol. 1 Ch. VI)

Why do you call nads your cousin?

We're related, second cousins eight times removed, or eighth cousins two times removed, through our maternal grandmaternal great-grandmothers in eastern Europe.

Surely one can see the family resemblence--and not only that, but our similar tastes for red shirts.
