Karl Lagerfeld wants to marry his cat
The quotable Karl Lagerfeld continues to share his bon mots by wishing he could marry his cat.

Is Karl Lagerfeld’s place at the helm of Chanel going to turn out like the Regan administration where we find out decades later he was making the big calls through some serious early Alzheimer’s? In what is becoming as much of a Lagerfeld trademark as his white Mozart ponytail and shades, the 77-year-old Chanel creative director made headlines with his latest outrageous quote — sharing with CNN his wish to marry his fluffy white Siamese cat, Choupette.
“There is no marriage, yet, for human beings and animals,†he regretfully mused to Fashion: Backstage Pass. “I never thought that I would fall in love like this with a cat.â€
I don’t know if animal marriage is the most important issue for an openly gay man of his position to be advocating when, meanwhile, 150,000 marched to protest the legalization of gay marriage in his home country of France. But Lagerfeld’s talent for igniting scandals out of the least important issues is second only to his talent for gorgeous design.
