Serious.

$1500.00 for a room for a night for the IRS....the horror! $55 million in training budget!!!!! My God the waste and abuse!!! Reminds me of the GAO scandal. Has any of the outraged asked why Darell Issa targeted the IRS or the GAO? These two are among the most efficient agencies in the US Government.

I gotta give it to Issa, he knows his marks. Now ask yourself how bad is the abuse with contractors, Issa's friends, in both DOD (for the record they still have $400.00 toilets, it's called black opps). And let me raise the Department of Homeland Security.

Those two have abuse, graft, corruption, built inefficiencies. Wake me up when Issa goes after those for the same. I could start with the Air Force Command that all it does is transport VIPs. And that is just the top of the iceberg. Or for that matter all the fancy toys TSA uses.

But go on, be outraged over some employees line dancing in a video...cause we all know, nothing like this ever happens somewhere else.

Amazed...really.

If any private sector company got the rate of return on investment the IRS has gotten from those training goofy exercise...there be books written, and stock through the moon

A few months ago, I had a guest bathroom torn out and redone.

I bought the new toilet for $450.

And nutcase nadin uses a $400 toilet as an example of scandal?

As a lifelong renter she has no idea.

Generally, it is a brown op or rarely after a big spinach night a dark green op. A black op is reason to head to the GI doc.

I rarely try to understand this heifer, but thought I'd give it a shot.

Just because there is excess in other departments of the Federal government, the waste at the IRS is okay in her brain?

You also have to remember that in her mind the IRS is going after what she considers bad guys (the Tea Party) while the DOD is often going after what she considers the good guys (terrorists who hate America).

Only a DUmmy would consider mandatory taxes a "return on investment".

Idiots and fools, all of them.

The whole $400 toilet debacle was really an accounting artifact of the way the spares part of aircraft acquisition programs worked, same with the hammers, etc.; it had been set up the way it was because the DOD felt it might be nice if an aircraft company was still in business when they wanted to buy newer planes fifteen years down the road, a decade and half after the production line for the current fleet had shut down with all planes delivered and no military aircraft production in the meantime.  Unfortunately, the rationale for this was too complicated for demagogues like Proxmire or idiots like Nads to understand.

Yeah, just imagine if Exxon, or General Electric, or Monsanto, or your neighbor had the right to come to your house and demand money of you, and that if you didn't comply forthwith they could confiscated it forcefully and toss you in jail.  I'm sure they could manage an incredible "ROI" as well.

Uh, nads?  I work at a place where Safety Related 1E materials cost about 10 times what the same non-safety related component costs.

The difference?  Paperwork.  Traceability.

Now back to your "good rig" you addled scrunt.

Used car salesmen and repair garages come to mind.

Once in a while the state cops set up a sting, bring in a car in perfect condition complaining of some non existant problem.     The garage or dealership will now tell you ,you need a new what ever and bill the person for a new one when the old part has just been removed and cleaned up.

This is how some government contractors do their own thing.    They will buy seconds when ever they can to replace old stuff, and if some parts just need cleaning and will replace them for the cost of new ones.

Bids on repairs get quite nasty, an old boss of mine would bring the bid down to get the job of rebuilding water tight doors and then pop up with a problem, we need more money to fix defective handles.    We had big 55 gallon drums filled with degrease stuff, take a door break it up and anything that could be salvaged went into the buckets including the small cotter pins.

My job was to be in charge of his warehouse.  I would be told that ship was coming in for repairs to their doors hatches and scuttles.   The number of the different items and then had to bag up the material to repair them., and deliver them to the ship for a gang of temp workers to repair and repaint them.

My Boss a retired Navy officer with a lot of friends seemed to know somehow when any ship was coming in for repairs.   I would find myself down at the ship yard putting in a bid 2 days before it was posted.

First thing I needed to know, how many dogs on each door and went in search from the barrels for used parts that were squeaky clean.   The nuts that were Farris were no good but the stainless ones unless the ship was 50 years old were usually in good shape after cleaning.  Conrad collars were brass and could be salvaged.

Mean while the handle assemblies were taken apart and the large spring inside checked to see if it was reusable.

Came the time we got heavy into Asbestos removal that I accidental found out how the Boss worked it, AB has to be triple bagged.  The cost of disposal is in the government bid.     Unfortunately when I found out how the AB was disposed------I quit on the spot, I did not want to go to federal prison as any part of this.------30 years ago and to this day I expect someone to come a knocking on my door to ask questions.      What the heck I am now a crazy old Aunt kept locked in the attic, it is easy to conveniently forget stuff from back then.

Posted the same thing recently and was told to shove it where the sun doesn't shine by other DUers who frequently side with libertarian and tea party talking points. It's depressing when liberals buy into popular outrage pushed by the right.

He's really butt-hurt, so to speak, at Cali telling him to shove it up his ass.   :lmao:  He's been mentioning it in every thread.

IOW: Proglodytes are content with corruption, waste and abuse because admitting as much validates every indictment of the opposition.

That presumes a rope strong enough to hold her - even then it would take a hurricane to have enough energy to make her twist around.

It's the first thing she didn't already know.

135. Let's privatize the government

I see te private sector is far more efficient, from your posts on this matter.

Perhaps you should bother reading beyond the CNN, outrage producing, their intent mind you, headline.

Here you go

Page 16

“The Deputy Commissioner, SB/SE Division, stayed five nights in a two-bedroom Presidential Suite at the Hilton. The IRS paid the standard per diem rate of $135 per night for the room which would have normally cost guests $1,499 per night during a four night stay.”

http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2013/images/06/04/tigta.irs.pdf

So, yes, it was a $1500 room. But the IRS only paid $135!

Awesome find, dkf! This absolutely blows the lid off the GOP bullshit and makes the IRS look like the greatest stewards of money the taxpayer could ever find!

I almost stopped at page 1 when I saw the total cost $4.1M and number of attendees 2,609. Divide one by the other, you have roughly $1500. So I was guessing they took the week long $1500 per attendee cost and called it the room price. Which would have been bullshit in and of itself. I am so glad I continued to page 16 where it lays out in crystal clear black and white and the "$1500 per night" claim is such a bald-faced lie.

If that's what a Skittles' often threatened ass kicking looks like, it was pretty lame.

Of their various in-jokes I find the ass-kicking threat from Skittles to be the most naff, unimaginative, and boringly predictable.
