This kind of thing, the holy crap sudden death no warning thing, scares the crap out of me

This came as a complete shock. I feel so bad for his family. RIP Tim.
-
I enjoyed his books, Rest in Peace Tim. :(
-
That sucks. Very sudden and unexpected. RIP and prayers to his family and loved ones.
-
What a shock.
I always enjoyed "Meet the Press" with Tim as host.
Prayers for God's love and comfort to surround his family. I know all about a "sudden" death of a loved one....the shock is a tough one to get over.
-
Very sad. Prayers for his family and friends..
The speculation at this point is DVT, since he just returned from Italy either last night or early this morning. :(
-
Sad and shocking news. Prayers for his family and friends.
Unfortunately, there will likely be much rejoicing at places like the DUmp.

Why? He was a Dem. They're already speculating Chimpy McBushitler* and the BFEE had him killed. :whatever:

No one has seen Hillary for the past four days either.....
-
Loved Meet the Press with Tim. (one of my Sunday rituals) :(
Sad, terrible news. Peace and love to the family and to his friends. I know he has many. RIP Tim Russert.
-
RIP, Tim Russert. You were one of the crew that made the 2000 election interesting. That was your job and you did it well.
-
I want you guys to reflect on this moment and if your fathers are still living, make damn sure you call him on Sunday. I called mine as soon as I heard the news. Tim was about my dad's age and my dad has some severe health issues. You never know when the "time" will come. Cherish every moment.
On another note, I would say I appreciate the emotions, courtesy, and class coming from you guys, but it's not something uncommon by people at CC, and when I was at CU. Contrast that to DU now, and when someone like Brit Hume or Tony Snow dies. Don't pat yourself on the back, just realize there are some major f'n differences between us and those morons.

Yes sir you are quite correct. A big High 5

This book got rave reviews from Hannity today:

Actually, he wrote two books:

not to play politics at an improper moment, but the election in november will miss his
presence. he was the one guy that would have exposed The BarackStar!'s nothingness.
-
Sad, sad news. He has made watching elections bareable compared to what the other talking heads do. I was looking forward to watching him in November to see what his insights were going to be. RIP Tim.

There was just a story within the last week or two about how he was upset with how MSNBC is all ideologues passing as newsmen.
It was just shocking, I was listening to Hannity when he said there was rumors of bad news about someone in the "industry" that he was hoping and praying wasn't true so I hopped on Drudge and there was a link to the NY Post. Then after the half hour news Hannity said it was confirmed and gave a very touching remembrance.

I completely agree. his loss has yet to be felt.

I can't imagine watching Meet the Press without him there. It just won't be the same.
-
Mike Malloy coined him "Media Whore #1", Savage is going off on him. The guy just can't please anyone. I'd say if a rabid left-winger can't stand him anymore than a rabid right-winger, he's doing something right. Listening to Savage now is about to piss me the **** off.

I always only catch the later rebroadcast, but I will watch Sunday just out of respect.
(I will say that the MSM really, REALLY likes extolling it's own. we are seeing 24x7 coverage
of his life, and his death. I say that without passing any judgment on him, but it is odd how
his profession is reacting)

RIP Tim Russert. Condolences to his family. :( I never watched Meet The Press. If anything comforting, Tim Russert died what he loved to do.

He sure is being highly regarded on Hannity on Colmes, which is honorable. I can only imagine what kind of "regard" Bill O' Reilly would receive on MSNBC, had he dropped dead.

Let Linus Torvalds die and see how ours will react.

I just wanted to celebrate his soul as it ascended to heaven. he was a catholic, so he
was guarenteed.

RIP Tim...I am saddened by this news...He was a humble guy and always seemed genuine to me. He will be missed.

indeed.
he slammed people regardless of their political affiliation.

Just a head's up, I will not shed one f'n tear when Keith Olberman hits the dirt.
Mr. Russert, however, a different story. I called my father as soon as I heard the story. Keith, you are no Tim.
-
Keith is a scumbag. I won't shed a tear either. I won't say crap because I'm not a DUmmie.
*but I will be thinking it :-)

Didn't Russert recently voice criticism of Olberman..? Something along the lines that journalism at MSNBC is not what it used to be....insinuating too much slanting by people like Olberman.....
Olberman can't shine Tim's shoes...I watch him sometimes just to hear his delusions...but his MR. Bush please resign! bullshit gets annoying..his Worse, Worser and Worsest segment is even more pathetic.

yes, he did.
-
Says a lot about a man when, in his position, and while guys in his field were authoring books about how bad this person is, or that person is, he authored two books dedicated to his dad and fathers.
-
....and yes, Olberman isn't an "objective" journalist. He's in the league with someone like O'Reilly. Only problem is, O'Reilly doesn't pretend to be "objective". He has his biases and pretty much admits them on a daily basis....at least he did when I last watched him years ago.
-
O'Reilly still claims to be fair and balanced...He still does his "the spin stops here" thing. He claims to be an independant...and he may indeed be registered as one...but his views are clearly right leaning/conservative.
Hannity would be a better example of Olberman's opposite.

i don't think that you will get any support for o'reilly here.

O'Reilly is a good guy.

Two things I love about O'Reilly. One, he puts his money where his mouth is. He actually stands for something, he pushed Jessica's Law, he bucked Fox when the parent company almost published the OJ Simpson book, He give millions to soldiers, and he is working with a couple of legislatiors on GI vets benefits. and Two, he is the public enemy number one of the lunatic left and that's why I love him so much! :cheersmate:
-
I don't watch PMS-NBC... who's next in the pecking order? Does Kieth Olbermann get a promotion? Did they announce a fill-in for MTP?
-
Ah. I just heard on the radio that NBC will be "hiring internally". Matthews, Scarborough, and David Gregory are being considered.

my money is on matthews. the network likes him, despite his crappy ratings.
oh, has DU chimed in recommending olbermann for the job yet? :whatever:

Too bad Chuck Todd doesn't do interviews. He's pretty good on the political score.

he is their 'insider". I think he is wrong most of the time, and he doesn't seem that quick of a thinker to me.

I hope they don't put Matthew's on MTP. I'd have to stop watching.

Oh that too.

as I said, I am almost sure that it will be matthews.
-
Its sad hes gone, but sheeeeeesh, the left media is treating him like someone who was bigger than life. They never treated President Reagan's passing this way.
What a bunch of self-grandizing jacka$$es.

Where were you?

Sunday politics will never be the same.

I cannot stand David Gregory. and blank Matthews too!

He's one of the names that is being considered.

They need only look at his: a) content and b) ratings.

Since when has the leftist MSM been driven by ratings?

Since when has the leftist MSM been driven by ratings?
I think they learned from the Couric experience. Ratings is ALL that drives the MSM -- that is what moved them so far Left.
-
They need only look at his: a) content and b) ratings.
And yet those content and ratings issues didn't stop them from giving him the spotlight on NBC Nightly news a couple of times a week.
IMHO NBC is turning into the DU Channel of Choice...Giving K.O. the Russert Chair and title of Washington Bureau Chief would only solidify that belief.
See not only do they have to replace Russert for that show...they also have to fill the other hats he wore here in D.C> too.
-
Ratings, what are those?
If you look at the viewership you will find that NBC and the rest are at or near the bottom of the list. MSNBC is dead last, but for some strange reason corporate biggies keep flushing good money after bad when they should cut their losses, get rid of MSNBC, and move on.
Its getting very nausiating[sic] when I channel surf by MSNBC and NBC. Christ they're treating Russert like some kind of king, they blather on and on and on about him. The man died, move on MSNBC and NBC. If a democrat were in the White House, you can bet they would declare a national month of mourning and dictate that the U.S. flag be flown at half staff.

Thank you. I get sick and tired of excuses the DUmmies offer. "The FReepers are just as bad, if not worse". That's a lie. I know it, they know it.
Tim Russert, though I agreed with him on nothing politically was a great journalist. He was tough but fair to both sides, and you really have to respect someone like that. NBC and the media in general are poorer without him.

bump...
Tom Brokaw will host 'Meet the Press' (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/showtracker/2008/06/tom-brokaw-will.html)
Brian Williams was on MTP this morning. He looked a little out of place.

That's because most Lib Journo's are over their head when they aren't reading directly from the tele-prompter

Say what you will about Russert, but it was difficult not to share in the emotions expressed during his memorial service.
