Summary:
I think the main thing I learned from this survey is that we are somehow failing to communicate to members about our efforts to support Old Elm Tree.
So many people either confused the General Store with the Zazzle store, or just didn't seem to know anything about the General Store, that I was very surprised. We sent out a mass email (or was it two?) about the General Store, and we had a banner announcement about it for almost six months.
Only 13.8% knew we had lost the Google Adwords account.
Fewer than half knew about all the options for supporting us, except for the donation option. That option had 59% knowing about it.
So clearly we need to be doing something else in the way of communicating. There are times we need to get something out to everyone. We have several means of doing this within the structure of the forum. We can post something in the "Announcements for All Members" section, we can send a mass email to all members, we can post a banner announcement, or we can do all three.
What is the best way we can get important information to you? What gets your attention? If you have suggestions other than the options I mentioned, please tell us. We may be able to find a way to do something we aren't currently aware of.
Now I leave the floor open to all of you. What are your thoughts on all of this? Let's brainstorm together. For those of you who are readers here, but not members, now would be a great time to join so you can give us your thoughts. Remember, it's always free to join!
I suggest you accept the fact that your members are all a bunch of penniless losers who want something for nothing (typical liberals/progressives) and they'll stay on your board as long as they don't have to contribute any money. As soon as you're gone, they'll lament that you couldn't make it and then they'll go to another site to mooch, all the while whining and complaining about things they can't begin to understand just as they are now.
There is one member who has a couple of nickels to rub together, but the flyarm primitive is still a loser and isn't going to give you any money either.
The only thing you bring to the table now is us wondering how much longer until you fold.

I answered this question with this: "If it sold Rush bumperstickers." I didn't mention porn. Andrea lumped those answers together.

Let me sum it up for you Andrea -
You are attempting to make a living off of primitives and moles.
Primitives spend most of their lives mooching, because they believe the government and the wealthy owe them a living. many believe internet service is a right, so they aren't going to pay you.
Moles aren't going to pay either.
The only reason DU has had any success in the past is because they were among the first big liberal websites. OET is not, nor will it ever be DU - So, I would suggest running the site as a hobby, because that is all it will ever be.
