Oklahoma Republicans say NO to disaster relief and asks for a smaller government. (http://www.democraticunderground.com/10022873437)
Oh...that was NO to disaster relief for Sandy. Those people didn't deserve it.
I'm sure we will hear a different tune now.
(and, no, I'm not a total ass.... I say we should send disaster relief immediately. I just want it to have "Your Republican Congressman Voted No On Disaster Relief last year, this is brought to you by the Democrats" stamped on it.)

They need to be called out on their shortsightedness. THIS is why you support your countrymen, because someday it will be you who needs the help.

No. Liberals in congress piled all kinds of irrelevant crap into the Sany relief bill because that was the only way to get their stupid shit passed. A clean relief bill would fly through congress every single time. That, is a fact.
This afternoon I was planning to do a DUmmie FUnnies about Nadin Brzezinski and the wind turbines in San Diego. But in the wake of this incredibly devastating tornado, I just had to stop. It's hard to do funny right now, especially when the topic would even mention "wind."The Okla. people will be fine. They've done this many times.
The Okla. people will be fine. They've done this many times.
I do understand, however.
Perhaps later, a "breaking wind with gNads", story might pop up.
Never let a crisis go to waste.
This isn't a crisis. But of course I get your point Mr. Axelrod....I mean Freeper. ;D
As do most of us in the Midwest. We had tornado sirens going off here last night in IA, chance for more tonight.Perfect opportunity for wind turbines to fling blades a mile. :-)
Republicans didn't want to vote for the Sandy relief bill because it contained a bunch of pork.
It's a typical democrat trick, add a bunch of bull shit to a bill that does something good, then sit back and demonize the repukes for opposing that bill.It wasn't just pork. It was the whole d*** pig farm, and then some.
And you ****ers politicized Hurricane Katrina TO DEATH!!!!! :bird:I tweeted out a string of expletives not long after this occurred, and told any butthurt followers to unfollow me if they were offended, so I give you a complete pass.
Sorry everyone, the DUmmies are on my nerves today. I usually try not to use language like that.

68. Shelters in Oklahoma? Why?
I was raised in Wisconsin. Every home I was ever in had a basement. Why wouldn't they have them in Oklahoma? I lived in Texas for years and never met or heard of anyone who had even a storm shelter. You Gotta love those rednecks. I'll bet they all have guns in their homes. Guns and no storm shelters.

iirc, the relief bill was delayed to get to the House and then when it arrived it contained non hurricane related bullshit. The non-hurricane relief stuff was removed and the bill was passed.
Am I incorrect on this?

To save you an hour of reading lol...
The original EMERGENCY RELIEF BILL was 60.4 billion dollars.
Of that:
13 billion dollars for future projects to minimize damage from future storms
1 billion dollars to train Iraqi policeman
188 million dollars for AMTRAK expansion project
150 million dollars for Alaskan fisheries.
8 million dollars for the DHS and DOJ to buy new vehicles.
and there's more I'm just lazy.
After Dems and Pubs got together and did a little DC wrangling they arrived on a number of 50.5 billion and PBO signed it.

80. The last major tornado to hit this area was more than 10 years ago. If climate change is the
culprit, what took so long? We can't use climate change (which I agree is happening) as the blame for every horrific weather event that happens.

Then the president and DC Dems could be magnanimous while we bombarded the airwaves with hatred for the OK Repukes.
Actually if we had balanced media in the US there would be no Repuke party, and the Cock Bros would have joined Mussolini in hell years ago

Celldweller (27 posts)
54. you're right...
Independently I don't oppose any of them.
But do they BELONG in an EMERGENCY RELIEF BILL?
Let's just play make-believe for a moment. The hurricane is in Texas and the Repub Senate drafts a relief bill that gives $150 million dollars to new AR-15 for the Texas State Troopers (or w/e they called) maybe 200 million dollars for a retractable roof for Texas Rangers stadium and 100 million dollars the the GWB Pres library.
Just because something is tied into a EMERGENCY RELIEF BILL doesn't mean it's a priority I guess.
Emergency relief means $$ to FEMA and HUD, the local repair people and the first responders, right?
Bottom line, DC is a cesspool, always has been. Every Senator/Congresscritter is beholden to some special interest that they must serve by bringing back free DC money.
And then the Senators bargain with each other... "Hey I will vote for your bill if you allow my Caribou research project if you allow my Airport expansion project".
It's all a crooked process.
Zoeisright (7,813 posts)
69. **** your cesspool example.
Here: something for you to read, stupid: the National Weather Service, whose actions saved lives because people had a 30 MINUTE WARNING about this tornado, was created by Congress. FEMA and first responders are funded by congress.
Only an idiot would condemn Congress because idiotic repukes are trying to break the government.
There's something crooked here, all right: look in the mirror.
