Congressmen: Were Conservative Car Dealers Targeted for GM Closures? (http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/05/17/congressmen-letter-GM-closures)
Two Congressmen are asking the Treasury Department if it inappropriately scrutinized conservative-owned businesses the same way it targeted Tea Party groups filing for tax-exempt status.
Republicans Mike Kelly (PA-03) and Jim Renacci (OH-16) circulated a letter Thursday requesting Treasury Secretary Jack Lew to release documents detailing the process and methodology the Automotive Task Force used to shut down General Motors dealerships in 2009 during the automotive industry crisis.

That was believed to be the case when it happened, but the media never covered it.

When the list of dealers that were going to close went around, wasn't it like twice as many republican leaning as democrat leading slated to close?

I think it was much higher than that. Also if there were two or more dealerships in a given area, it was always the conservative owned one that was closed.

I think that at the time it was reported that 90+% were contributors to republicans and conservative causes.

The Congressmen have it wrong. It wasn't GM dealerships that were targeted. It was Chrysler. And yes there were complaints that successful money making dealerships were being shut down because of who they supported politically.

GM, Chrysler, what difference does it make?

They shut down one of each in my small town(both republicans).....left one FORD dealer and one democrat GM dealer.

Well, they wouldn't have been able to close the Ford dealer, Ford didn't take any gov't money.

Ford Credit Company (http://blogs.cars.com/kickingtires/2010/12/report-ford-took-federal-funds-too.html) took a loan from the government, but it was paid back.

To the left who will pounce on an error like that and make it look like the people saying it are idiots...it means a lot.

Supposedly it was to cull those dealerships that were not very profitable. That was an outright lie by these left wing scumbag Democraps. It was a hatchet job on Repub dealers. Anyone that believes otherwise is stupid.

Maybe all the dealers put out of business by the government can join a class action lawsuit and sue Obama. :-)
If we can't make him sit in a jail cell, maybe we can just keep him in a court room.

That was the tactic the left used to drive Sarah Palin from office.

^^^ Yes it was, wasn't it. I remember back when that happened with the dealerships. It made me feel so sick, and also so powerless.
