Went and got myself arrested today...

Last edited Wed May 15, 2013, 04:02 AM USA/ET - Edit history (1)

Not even for anything cool.

An undercover grey suburban paced me at 62 mph (which I personally believe is horse shit and will be fighting) and pulled me over when the speed limit changed from 45 to 40 so he could give me a criminal citation.

Then he tried to argue that he could throw me in jail for failing to stop because I didn't immediately pull over on the road and that I should be grateful that he's "letting me off the hook." He then proceeded to give me a field sobriety test and a 5 minute lecture on how I ride a bike that is too fast. I ride a 900 cc "Universal Japanese Motorcycle." Maybe next time I'll show him how fast it is when I decide that stopping for his fatass isn't necessary.

I try to balance my anti-establishment angst with a healthy dose of respect for ethical police officers. But this one really chaps my ****ing hide.

Assuming this story is true....

And LOL at a DUmmie with a "healthy dose of respect for anything.

2. It was 12:30 AM on a deserted street. I was speeding. But I was not being unsafe

Obviously, it wasn't deserted, shumb dit.

3. Yeah, I don't see the big deal if the roads are empty.

You aren't a danger to anyone but possibly yourself.

I try not to speed when driving long distances at night though, just because you can't see potential obstacles in the road as easily... its funner to drive cross-country during the daylight anyhow, so you can enjoy the scenery, even if it is whizzing by you at 90mph.

And um....anything you may RUN IN TO while going too fast!

And then there's the whole discussion that lead to the title of this thread:

41. You did not describe an arrest in your OP,

View profile

you described a traffic citation. Most arrests made on a traffic stop end up with someone in custody and brought in. It appears to me that you got a speeding ticket. You failed to pull over as soon as the cop wished and he gave you some shit for that.

98. Handcuffs, ride in a patrol car, fingerprinted, mug shots, the whole works?

That's what most people call an arrest.

If not, you were only stopped and ticketed, so why use the term arrested?

99. Its a criminal charge, arrested and released on summon.

Its considered an arrest.

I thought it was a simple citation, but he was speeding 20+ which is a misdemeanor and requires for the defendant to appear in court. It was an arrest.

100. Why use the term? Because I was arrested. Why aren't you getting this?

If you all would be so kind, pictures of hands, and "good vibes" are needed. :-)

All it takes are two idiots on the same road late at night thinking they are the only ones out that late.

I got pulled over for doing 115 mph once.  The cop walked up to my car said, "It gets a little dangerous above 100 out here, so keep it below that."  That was the length and breadth of it.

I-10 in New Mexico in 1996.

Not to mention he doesn't know that road is empty. Women go into labor, kids get sick, and people come home from friends houses that time of night. What a self centered shithead but that's redundant for DU.

Selfish liberal bitch. Did you stop to think that if you manage to turn yourself into a grease stain on the highway in an accident that only you are involved in, you are going to take time and resources away from police and emergency services as they scrape you off of the road, and pick parts of you up and stick them into a bunch of plastic bags ? Then they are going to do the same as they search for remnants of your exploded crotch-rocket.

Resources that could otherwise be used to be on the ready for a genuine emergency not involving a butthole such as yourself ? No ?

You also didn't think of the congestion you'll make, as most of the highway is blocked off -causing otherwise uninvolved people to be late, and possibly causing other minor accidents as people crawl by, did you ?

I didn't think so.

I wonder if there was a warrant for his arrest.

Back in 79 I had just finished building up a 67 fastback Mustang that had almost 400HP. I went for little test drive spin at about 100 and saw some red lights way behind me. I slowed down and then pulled over. The CHP was driving some POS Chrysler. He came up to me and said thanks for stopping I was losing you. We talked about my car and after checking my record (no tickets, no arrests) he gave me a stern warning not to go so fast.
