Title: Hey, DUmbasses! Remember when we said...
Post by: wasp69 on May 15, 2013, 10:54:30 AM
That electing an affirmative action President, who had everything handed to him his whole life, would be a very big mistake?  Well...

Quote
Late Monday came the breathtaking news of a full-frontal assault on the First Amendment by his administration: word that the Justice Department had gone on a fishing expedition through months of phone records of Associated Press reporters.

And yet President Obama reacted much as he did to the equally astonishing revelation on Friday that the IRS had targeted conservative groups based on their ideology: He responded as though he were just some bloke on a bar stool, getting his information from the evening news.

And now that Obama has learned about this extraordinary abuse of power, he’s not doing a thing about it. “We are not involved at the White House in any decisions made in connection with ongoing criminal investigations,” Carney argued.

Nixon was a control freak. Obama seems to be the opposite: He wants no control over the actions of his administration. As the president distances himself from the actions of “independent” figures within his administration, he’s creating a power vacuum in which lower officials behave as though anything goes. Certainly, a president can’t know what everybody in his administration is up to — but he can take responsibility, he can fire people and he can call a stop to foolish actions such as wholesale snooping into reporters’ phone calls.

At the start of Tuesday’s briefing, the AP’s Jim Kuhnhenn pointed out that in all the controversies of the moment — the Benghazi “talking points,” the IRS targeting and the journalists’ phone records — “you have placed the burden of responsibility someplace else. . . . But it is the president’s administration.”

President Passerby, however, was not joining the fray.

So much BS and corruption finally starting to bubble to the surface, at the same time, that not even a genius lib from Maryland can keep up:

Quote
At Rep. Steny Hoyer's weekly meeting with reporters on Tuesday, the Maryland Democrat was asked if he was concerned about the DOJ seizing phone records from Associated Press journalists working in the House press gallery in the Capitol building.

Hoyer's answer was well-delivered: Articulate, clear, firm and precise.

One problem: He responded to the wrong scandal.

"We're talking about two things," Pergram, who apparently had not heard the first mention of the IRS, said from across the table, "You said Lois Lerner and the IRS."

Another reporter sitting closer to Hoyer, Public Radio International's Todd Zwillich, learned over and said softly, "He's talking about the AP story."

"Oh, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, excuse me," Hoyer said, pausing briefly. "Whatever happened, we need to find out why it happened. But clearly it should not have happened. I don't know enough about whether there was a warrant sought."

And, what it all comes down to is that the government is just too damned big for the smartest, most organized man in history (didn't he have a previous job title of "organizer"?) to know what is going on:

Quote
The government is simply too big for President Obama to keep track of all the wrongdoing taking place on his watch, his former senior adviser, David Axelrod, told MSNBC. “Part of being president is there’s so much beneath you that you can’t know because the government is so vast,” he explained.

Just how much more should we lower the standards to make sure little barry can "pass", you worthless cretins?

That part about Steny Hoyer was hilarious.  Oh!  Wrong scandal.  Ooops.

Best part was the fact that he kept sticking his foot in his mouth.   :lmao:

Doesn't this validate the point conservatives have been making for decades?

Yeah, pretty much the same observation of the commentators on the article.

But Obozo is supposed to be the smartest man that ever became President.  This should be a cinch for him, after all, he was the bestest community organizer ever.

I find Holder's lies about being blissfully unaware of the phone record seizure to be absolutely preposterous.  There is no way in Hell a direct subordinate would have ordered that and not informed him and gotten his OK, due to the incredibly-obvious potential for political blowback.

I'll remember to use the "I was not aware of this issue until you were..." whenever there is a huge screw up somewhere in my life.  Once I say that line, all of my problems will go away... right?

You might want to wait and see how it works out for Holder and Obama before really relying on it, Jess.

Will that line work during an IRS tax audit?

They will not suffer a single consequence over any of this.

Not sure.  The IRS leaves us alone... for now.  Now that I posted this, we will probably be audited.

When John Stewart sorta, kinda starts going against you......  Is this the beginning of the rats abandoning the sinking ship?

Wasn't Obama's excuse for hiring his cronies as "Czars" for various things was to help oversee the government because it is too big for one person?  Some czars need to meed their end and quickly like they did in Russia.

Well, the left is all the same...ideology before people/principles/morals, whatever. So, if all these things continue to drip, drip drip (heard a rumor there was another shoe dropping from the CIA but who knows) then they'll throw him under the bus. But at least he'll be able to get reaquainted with his grandma. The one thing they can't stop is how these things will fester in the soul of the American people...espcially with the IRS because most of the country hates and/or fears them and this justifies that hate and fear. This is the kind of thing that could leave a bad taste in people's mouths for a very, very long time. And he will be blamed no matter what...there comes a point in time when saying "I didn't know anything about it" no longer works. I think most of the country has reached their limit. Funny thing is, this has been a planned strategy on his part...no it's backfiring! I can't wait for the fallout!

Yeah, I think the line 'mistakes were made' has a nice ring to it. It allows me to acknowledge the problem without blaming myself. Then everyone can just move along.

It does illustrate one of the useful and appropriate applications of the passive voice in writing...

Exactly. I was taught to write in active voice. Passive is great for passing the buck.

Whenever Metro finally gets around to doing that, I'll try it.  I rarely see the police now that we moved out to the "boonies".
