Town reels after Leila Fowler's brother is accused of killing her

The small Northern California town of Valley Springs was reeling after police arrested the brother of 8-year-old Leila Fowler on suspicion of stabbing her to death inside their home.
"I think everyone just wanted to get the kids to the water and let them play," said Christina Armstrong, grocery shopping with her four swimming suit-clad daughters.
Residents here were torn — relieved that no child murderer was on the loose, but saddened that a local 12-year-old boy stood accused of the unthinkable: murdering his young sister.
Leila Fowler caused the town to be scared after a manhunt for a suspect. Her killer is her own brother. :argh:

If mommy and daddy had beaten his ass once or twice over the unending string of escalating "attention seeking" on this little shit's part, he almost certainly wouldn't have been. :thatsright:

I'm having a hard time fathoming this. I mean a brother attacking their little sister. I was taught to protect mine. Crazy.

The mother of a 12-year-old boy accused of stabbing his little sister to death said her son would never hurt his sister.
“They never even used to fight when they were little,†Priscilla Rodriguez told CBS Sacramento in an interview on the eve of the boy's arrest. “I would never see him be mean to her.â€

There are conflicting accounts from those who know Leila Fowler's older brother, a seventh grader who some say was often in trouble, suspended even, but never violent.
What would get him suspended and in trouble at school?
