I just got home a few minutes ago, cops everywhere, the coroner's van parked in the street
My downstairs neighbor, in his 50's, not an educated man, hung himself.
Lost his menial job on the night crew of a supermarket of many years to an argument with his supervisor. Soon after unable to find work, his girlfriend of many years and their daughter left him because he had become abusive and argumentative. After the first year, we noticed he had begun drinking, parking on the sidewalk, talking slurred when we saw him on his deck. The last time I talked to him a couple of months ago, he had said he was out of money and he would have to leave here soon because he couldn't' find a job, a menial job for an uneducated soul. He didn't know how to use a computer, he was amazed at what I do. He went out many mornings, I've seen him nicely dressed in a tie, but I guess he just didn't fit the profile for corporate America.
They must have put the eviction notice on his door today because it wasn't there this morning when I left for work. The only reason they found him was a visit from his sister late this afternoon. A visit to give him some money to help him out. (I talked to her before I sat down to write this tonight).
Another victim of the recession dies alone. No money, no job, no hope. His cry for help unheard.
It just sucks.
Godspeed Woody. You deserved better

Not so very long ago, Woody could have found a decent job in manufacturing. It might have been hard work. It might have been repetitive work. But it would have paid him a true living wage. Not a subsistence wage...a living wage, one that would have allowed him to enjoy some frivolous things, to put something away for retirement in a paid-for home that was his.
Now? Those jobs are gone. And the responsible parties could give a shit...
DUmmies just keep saying this, over and over, yet despite the 0conomy and the best efforts of the jug-eared muslim to destroy the country, America is still by far the biggest manufacturing power in the world.
Aside from a handful of losers like the DUmmies, we are still the most prosperous and privileged people in the world.

6. Tragically, I expect to hear stories like that more and more in the years to come.
So do I, and I wish that worthless DUmmy Elad would get off his ass and make that Dead DUmmy forum happen.
There will be lots of new candidates for that group coming soon.

30. Oh, I think the under-40's know they're getting the shitty end of the stick, too.
But if you're older and you've been laid off, there's not much hope of every finding another halfway decent job.

44. I read similar..
It said that middle aged white men had a higher suicide rate. Not so for black or Hispanic men or women. I think it also said suicide for middle aged white women was slightly up. Sorry, No link...

18. In the last few weeks, quite a few very well educated, highly experienced....
BRILLIANT souls have written me after I shared a wee bit of my situation as far as my struggle publicly.
I would never have thought these people were struggling. Their resumes are extraordinary.
Yet they are in their 50s and cannot find work. Not work commensurate with their experience. ANY work.
They no longer have a safety net.
It's brutal out there for so many. And so much of it is unnecessary, as the rich get richer...
Each one mentioned suicide, as they feel they are literally worth more dead than alive.
Hahaha!
Jump! Jump! Jump!
Elad, hurry up, dammit!

35. There are a LOT of people that fit the "Al Bundy" profile...
They were just coming out with pocket calculators when they were in High School and they consider computers to be for nerds.
Suddenly, they are out of work after 20 or more years and nobody wants them. It's like trying to find work for a blacksmith.
This is one of the main reasons we need to lower the retirement age to 55.
Why 55? Why not think big? Think like democrats! Retirement for everyone!

Such an awful thing, to lose all Hope.
All because of a clutch of Predators whose avarice knows no bounds.
The Predators are a piss-poor ice hockey team in red state hell.
Compared to ice hockey, soccer makes sense.

The coroner has his own slab wagon? I haven't heard of that for thirty years. These days, they send an EMT with an ambulance.

Yeah. In the year 2025......still Bushs' fault.
I'm OK with that...as long as I can say some things are still FDR's fault.

Don't bring up EDEN, God allowed that sneaky snake to enter the garden and cause corruption of humans.

You are correct DUmmy. Now, lets explore what's happened to all those manufacturing jobs. Not where they went, buy WHY they went.

15. **** the oligarchs.
Just **** them.
Lets look at that big word you want to throw around.
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/oligarchy
a government in which a small group exercises control especially for corrupt and selfish purposes
Not sure you want to use that word as it seems to apply more to your side right now.

The solution is clear, ban ropes.

Dear DUmmies--again I say unto you, "Play stupid games, win stupid prizes."
Oh, and exactly WHO is going to pay for lowering the retirement age to 55? Seems to me the Greeks tried that too. How's that working out for them these days?
-
OH NOES! Someone STAYS in a menial job and it's that horrible Corporation's fault!

An argumentative, hard-drinking, reckless driving, girlfriend (and possibly) child-beater. Sounds like a model employee.

A wife/child beating, drop-out, confrontational alcoholic offs himself and we're supposed to blame The System.
He was a shitbag his entire life and a violent shitbag to boot; likely to be one of those patriarchal abusing types they constantly grouse about.
In fact, the only reason the Proglodytes are mourning him is because he didn't shoot-up a public venue to give them a renwed excuse for gun grabbing.

...His cry for help unheard.
You heard him. You said you've been watching this unfold for over a year now.
OH! That's right! You're a liberal.
Actually doing something is somebody else's job.
Not that you would have had any advice beyond, "Sit and wait for somebody else to do something."
COMPASSION!

Why didn't BainDamage offer up some money for him? Help this poor uneducated soul out, since he was so amazing?

Because DainBramaged's medication costs him $8,000 per month, every month. Nothing he can do. Sorry.

Liberalism: cuz it's your job to make it somebody else's job.
