Shhh...don't tell anybody

especially your local paper of record...but tomorrow is May Day...no, not the Victory in Iraq day...mission accomplished crapola your local media will pump. Nope, tomorrow is May Day...the anniversary of events over a century ago in a certain plaza in Chicago...the Haymarket

Take a second tomorrow to remember the heroes of the Haymarket...and if you can join a May Day event.

I will be there...tomorrow. I think labor is now trying to recapture what should be an American Labor Day.

So I expect the usual suspects (insert several unions here)...and a nice day to take photos and notes.

So...unions are going to surprise us all?

5. Ok. I won't tell anyone.
Ok, check out the post below. The link goes to a pretend news report. Its an occupy protest, not a union thing. I only looked for a few moments, but the police stopped the protest before it began.
--Looks like it wasn't so secret after all, right nadin? Occupy fails again.

6. And if you have nothing local, you can watch Tim Pool livestream the NYC events
There's a full schedule of events tomorrow, from early morning to late at night, and Tim has promised to be there.

7. May Day is Labor Day everywhere but here...
The reason we moved our Labor Day was because the Powers That Be are superstitious IDIOTS who believe there would be some kind of global vibe or something that would make all the workers of America rise up and overthrow their capitalist exploiters and anarchy would follow. It's also important to make Americans feel like they are not part of a wider world.

Then again, May Day was also when the USSR held it's big parade down Red Square. They liked to present themselves as the result of a worker's revolt,....to their workers.

Think about that as you wrap the pole.

OK, I skipped thru the Timcast site. Its an hour of nothing happening. I did discover that the protest has nothing to do with mayday. Its the sixth day of protests against a NYPD shooting. So I'm unsure why it was linked to nadin's mayday thread

OK, I nadined it. You won't believe this...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haymarket_Riot
Quote
The Haymarket affair (also known as the Haymarket massacre or Haymarket riot) refers to the aftermath of a bombing that took place at a labor demonstration on Tuesday May 4, 1886, at Haymarket Square[2] in Chicago. It began as a peaceful rally in support of workers striking for an eight-hour day. An unknown person threw a dynamite bomb at police as they acted to disperse the public meeting. The bomb blast and ensuing gunfire resulted in the deaths of seven police officers and at least four civilians; scores of others were wounded.

In the internationally publicized legal proceedings that followed, eight anarchists were convicted of conspiracy. The evidence was that one of the defendants may have built the bomb, but none of those on trial had thrown it.[3][4][5][6] Seven were sentenced to death and one to a term of 15 years in prison. The death sentences of two of the defendants were commuted by Illinois governor Richard J. Oglesby to terms of life in prison, and another committed suicide in jail rather than face the gallows. The other four were hanged on November 11, 1887. In 1893, Illinois' new governor John Peter Altgeld pardoned the remaining defendants and criticized the trial.

The Haymarket affair is generally considered significant as the origin of international May Day observances for workers.[7][8] The site of the incident was designated a Chicago Landmark on March 25, 1992,[9] and a public sculpture was dedicated at the site in 2004. The Haymarket Martyrs' Monument in nearby Forest Park was designated a National Historic Landmark on February 18, 1997, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.[10]

So this is why May Day is so dear to lefty hearts. It involves anarchists, communists, a riot, murder of policemen, and the fledgling union movement. in short, everything an occupier holds dear.

May Day... a day when comfortable idiots on the other side of the planet celebrate the murder of 100 million people by their own government.

Americia does not celebrate May Day because it is exclusively a communist holiday.

It celebrates ignorant savages killing everyone who owns anything.

Until the democrat party went crazy during the Viet Nam War, no American wanted to be associated with the concept of communism.

Except for democrats, that's still true.

For mayday celebrations, Nadin is over there calling for massive nationwide general strikes.   ::)

As a thought on their commie-talk:  Have you noticed how hopelessly behind the times they are?  They refer to "the owner" in derisive tones.  They're picturing the likes of the Astors, the Aldrich's, the Carnegies, in tophats and spats.  Don't they realize that millions of middle class people own stock?  Ownership is as widely disseminated as the population itself.

May Day: A day for psychotic, dope- addled Communist/ Anarchist trust fund brats to cover their faces with either ridiculous bandanas that make them look like amateurish Wild West bank robbers or even more ridiculous Guy Fawkes masks (Yep, nothing says "Fight the man, oppose capitalism" like wearing plastic, mass- produced masks that were made in a factory in China by workers operating under unspeakable conditions and being paid starvation wages and distributed as merchandise for a big- budget Hollywood movie) and engaging in what they euphemistically refer to as "A series of autonomous direct action utilizing a diversity of tactics to promote social justice and raise awareness of the plight of the oppressed workers," yet what normal, sane people refer to as "Vandalism, violence, looting and rioting."

Besides the tradition of kids taking baskets to those they like and the big commie parades of their latest kill America toys to me there isn't much else to remember May the 1st over.
