Gun carrying man ends stabbing spree at Salt Lake grocery store
Updated: 4/27/2012
SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - A citizen with a gun stopped a knife wielding man as he began stabbing people Thursday evening at the downtown Salt Lake City Smith's store.
Police say the suspect purchased a knife inside the store and then turned it into a weapon. Smith's employee Dorothy Espinoza says, "He pulled it out and stood outside the Smiths in the foyer. And just started stabbing people and yelling you killed my people. You killed my people."
Then, before the suspect could find another victim - a citizen with a gun stopped the madness. "A guy pulled gun on him and told him to drop his weapon or he would shoot him. So, he dropped his weapon and the people from Smith's grabbed him."
By the time officers arrived the suspect had been subdued by employees and shoppers. Police had high praise for gun carrying man who ended the hysteria. Lt. Brian Purvis said, "This was a volatile situation that could have gotten worse. We can only assume from what we saw it could have gotten worse. He was definitely in the right place at the right time."
Dozens of other shoppers, who too could have become victims, are also thankful for the gun carrying man. And many, like Danylle Julian, are still in shock from the experience. "Scary actually. Really scary. Five minutes before I walk out to my car. It could have been me."

Well, the conquistadors were pretty cool, then there was Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid, then you had the Brits kicking the shit out of Argentina in the Falklands.

That's pretty much it for Latin America.
You know, when I was in college getting a degree in British history (British, because I'd already gotten all the American history through credit-by-examination), near the end of my education, it was pointed out I needed to "balance" my history, as there was too much "white man's" history in it.
I argued that I'd taken African history, southern Asian history, and Near Eastern history, which were hardly "white man's" history. The adviser told me yeah, true, but I'd taken them from the perspective of how they related to British history, which excluded any eras outside of when the British benevolently ran these places, trying to civilize them.
So.....I had to take three courses in Latin American history. I took one on Brazil, one on the three Guianas (British, Dutch, and French), and one on Paraguay.
The one on Paraguay was a drag; it was taught by a professor visiting from a South American university, a fine dapper dark little fellow, impeccable dresser, nice mustache, easy-to-understand body language, corsage in lapel.
The entire semester, all he ever did was describe the love-lives of the various dictators of Paraguay, and the final examination was one single essay one had to write, about the influence of mistresses and whores.
There must've been a cultural conflict here, about what's important in history, and what's not.

Latin America had populism and even Communist revolutions. Than the military junta got rid of the Commies in a brutal way that required torture and brought peace, stability, and prosperity.

Goldy Gopher is employed ("works" does not apply) exactly where you would expect a 51 year old woman with a useless doctorate, but she doesn't even teach in her "discipline" (snicker). She keeps a spreadsheet to avoid having her fellow leeches suck from the same vein, for which she has been graced with the title "associate dean".

Help me out, BD, because I can be slow at times: Are you saying she's at a university but not teaching? What good is a PhDD in Latin American studies if she's not using it to massage the brains of the "yutes" of America? Also, what do you mean she keeps a spreadsheet? What the Hell does this individual do for the taxpayers?

If I'm translating correctly...she's an Associate Dean of financial aid (or something related to that) at UM.
She spent all that time getting her useless PhD from UT Austin to allow her to sit behind a desk and hand out free government cheese to students in need if $$$

She 'coordinates grants', so grant applicants don't try to apply for grants from the same source without a reasonable waiting period. Hence the spreadsheet, something a BS in Accounting could handle.
Opportunities are fairly limited for women with a PhD in Brazilians. She would have done better majoring in Basketweaving and teaching junior high art classes.

Considering what we have learned about the muslim filth in Boston, I don't think there is much difference between "refugees" that come into this country and kill its citizens after being showered with taxpayer money and this type of homegrown, anti American trash.
