Title: I'm leaving.
Post by: ChuckJ on April 24, 2013, 08:22:35 PM
I'm not gone for good so don't celebrate. I started getting sick with a cold or flu or something Thursday. It's gotten progressively worse. It's now to the point that I feel like I've spent the last two days trying to cough up a lung.

My wife forced me to go to the doctor today who thought that taking almost a hundred bucks from me would make me feel better. It didn't so he wrote me several prescriptions. I figure I'll be spending the next few days zonked out on the couch.

If you say a prayer for me I'll appreciate it.

I wonder if you have the same crud the rest of us have dealt with.  I had pneumonia back in January and suffered on and off with similar symptoms since then.

Oh Hell Chuck, get better now.

If staying off the computer gives you some much-needed rest, by all means stay off the computer.

But I hope it's short-lived, this problem.

I don't know what it is. I know that usually any time I get a cold it turns into what the doctor calls asthmatic bronchitis. This time all he said was that it sounded like I had crud in the bottom and top of my lungs.

He apparently gave me some souped-up cough syrup because I can feel it kicking in. I don't know if it'll cure the coughing, but it'll probably make having a cough more enjoyable. He also gave me an inhaler, some antibiotics, and something else I think.

After two rounds of antibiotics, inhalers, and replacing a broken dehumidifier, I narrowed mine down to an environmental issue.

Months of searching this damn house for the AC filter, I finally found it.  It's at the top of the 8-foot ceiling over the stairs going to the basement.  It's nearly impossible to get to.  Changed it out (I don't think the previous owners touched it -- it was the same color as the dog) and aired out the house and everything seems to be fine now other than too much dust.

Get well. It's better to save your energy then trying to fight the cold to just go online.

Sorry to hear you are sick Chuck.  I can sympathize with you.  I had it a couple of months ago and had Levaquin and an inhaler. It'll definitely make you feel awful.

Rest well.  Hope to hear that you feel better soon.

Go and come back, as my Italian grandmother used to say.

Prayers up for a quick recovery.

Chuck, I'm sure that Flippy can hook you up with some fictional spirit-guides who will send their healing white light . . . some ultraviolet, too.

Sleep hard and come back ready to go.

Probably Codine. Good stuff.

Apparently someone's prayer was working because I actually feel better today. So thanks for the prayers and thanks to the good Lord.

I can still tell when the cough syrup wears off, but my breathing is much better. This morning when I woke up I had a headache straight from the depths of hell, but it's eased off.

By the way, the cough syrup is Hycodan so I believe it has vicodin or something in it other than codeine.

Hope you feel better soon, Chuck.

I've had it too, and it sucks. Between the coughing up a lung, and total exhaustion, all I can say, is sleep, sleep, sleep! as much as you can. I'm finally getting better now that I'm getting some decent sleep.

Hot-as-I-could-stand-it lemon herbal tea with extra lemon and honey in it, helped with my cough...

Thanks. I'm having real trouble sleeping through the night. I can sleep through the morning from about 6 AM to 11 AM with no problem. Maybe I have DUmmie DNA somewhere in me? :bawl:

Other than the cough I'm feeling much better. This cough seems like it's decided to stick around a bit.

Yeah, that sounds about right.

Chest pain is not normal.  If you're still having chest pain, go back to the doc.

I haven't really had any chest pain. I figure it'll be sore when I finally get over this because of all of the coughing.

My cough seems to be worse at night, and I was having the same problem with sleeping through the night and sleeping in the mornings. I think it's just by morning you are so exhausted from coughing all night, you just collapse.

I did an open house yesterday, and an RN at one of the med centers here, came through. She told me a coworker of her's has been coughing for 12 WEEKS!!!!! She said the only thing that really seems to work with this crud is the Musinex and Rx cough meds.

Doesn't that just give you warm fuzzies...  :censored:

My cough is still here. May possibly be worse. I tried to work yesterday. Any physical exertion resulted in what felt like the coughing up of a lung.

I've been taking Mucinex since yesterday afternoon. I can't tell that it's helped much.

Right now my chest, sides, and stomach are sore from all of the coughing. I'm very, very, very tired. I don't know if it is the Mucinex or a combination of all the coughing or not sleeping.

I have one dose of the Rx cough syrup left. I don't figure the doc would prescribe any more because I went through that bottle much quicker than I should have.
