I'm driving down I-80 across Iowa, and Nevada. Normally i would take I-25 south thru Denver but I'm thinking of crossing the continental divide by staying on I-80 this year and seeing the Dinosaur Natl Monument and going south from there. No idea how steep I-80 will be.
The dinosaur monument doesn't seem like it will take long to see, do you have any idea of any other distractions that can prolong my driving tour?

If you like history, especially western history, the Frontier Days Museum at Cheyenne is good, I hear. Flaming Gorge is unique, for a resevoir.
You missed a dandy storm last week. It doesn't look like much is expected this week.
There used to be a surly lot lizard at Point of Rocks who could be pretty entertaining if she took a disliking to someone. I prefer traipsing around the Red Desert, but I don't imagine that's too fun unless you like absolute quiet and few to no people.

I-80 through WY isn't bad at all.

I like it, but I sure hear tourists complain about there being nothing to see or do along the way. I guess no malls is a bad thing to some.

OK. Make that Tuesday Morning I'm leaving. Just got my car back tonight. Grrr.
-
Not sure where in Nevada you will be, but check out the Valley of Fire State Park. Or will you be driving I-80 all the way across Northern Nevada?
-
I'll be headed straight across I-80. Temps are pretty cold right now. I might try to see that on the way back.

That's the kind of country my wife and I like.
Nothing to see or do? Bullshit! Get the hell off the Interstate!

And when you get to Phoenix, please go to Aunt Chollada's for me?

To die for. Actually in Tempe, but well worth it.

Try to look as pale as possible while visiting Arizona.

I'm back a week early. Mechanical problems cancelled the Phoenix leg of the trip. Waited two days for a part to be driven in from Cheyenne. Not fun.
I did make it to Dinosaur Natl Monument, got a cool souvenir for $87 bucks: a replica fossil of a Ceratosaurus skull (Meat eater, nasty teeth), should look cool over my computer desk.

This is the link...cool. this is what I got.

Sorry you didn't make the whole trip. Cars are great except when they aren't. I'm trying to imagine being stuck for two days waiting on a part. That must have been maddening, unless you were still in WY, then it would be... uh, probably maddening!
Cool souvenir!
