It is a May issue state, that means it is up to individual towns Police Chiefs to decide how they feel that day to issue a permit or not. They also have two different kinds of CCW, restricted class B and unrestricted class A. Also they can issue a class A that is restricted to hunting and target only.

Years ago before the Federal assault weapons ban there were over a 1.5 million CCW permits, after the expiration of the Federal assault weapons ban and the implementation of the Romney assault weapons ban (even more restrictive)we are now down to a mere 170,000.
