My computer dies last week. Had to jump through a bunch of hoops to get it fixed but in the end, it only needed a new power supply. installed it was just $132 even.
Now I know y'all might say, "You were gone?" or, "Who are you again?"
But I had to do horrible things like watch boring TV and even talk to people!
It was heck! I couldn't even laugh at DUmmyland.
But its good to be up and running again. And ya know, CC was the first place I came too!
Its 8:14 PM local time. My unit was delivered to my home moments ago. set up went mere seconds.
and 8:30 is my bed time but I think I'll be feeding the addiction for a while.
Joy.

Whatcha get?

Nice to have you here, Mr. Mann. New folks usually make an introduction post in the intro forum so we can all get to know them.

All I know is it's a new power supply. I haven't even looked at the receipt yet. and I'm not gonna take the time to walk across the room.
Its been so long. My hands caress the keys. When the opening music played, my heart thrilled.
and now there is a thunderstorm overhead. CURSES!
do play Russian roulette? can I muster the courage to actually turn off my baby after so long parted?

Replacing a power supply is easy. I did it for my wife's computer just before buying her a new computer. :hammer:

Glad you're back :)

LOL...I don't have one either.
-
I don't either. I also know people who don't have a pot to piss in, but have a smartphone and a $100+ monthly bill to go along with it.

Mountain House Freeze Dried Lasagna. Two scoops, pour in a specified amount of boiling water. I added freeze dried hamburger and 4 oz of ordinary shredded cheddar cheese. came out wonderful!
I was jusy being creative with camping food.
Oh, and Hi5s for everyone!

Mr Mann the last person on earth without a smartphone. lol
Thats true, I have no family to call at all hours in the day. No bratty kids to teach to drive.
As for my friends...I don't like them that much. They can just leave a message on my machine and I'll get back to them on my land line.

Next-to-the-last. I don't have a "smartphone". I have the same $1.98 Walmart phone I've had for six years. It costs me $15.00 a month. I have over 7000 minutes on it. :-)

Hmmm. Friday night and the thread is dying. a good excuse to Hi5 everyone who posted here!

What exactly does a phone need to have in order to be called "a smart phone" ?

An IQ over 130, ah bleeve. :-)

A really high monthly bill and email/internet capability. Most people don't even venture beyond that.
-
When my wife and I stopped by the phone store, they said if my wife bought a Blackberry I could get a "text phone" free but I would need to buy a monthly plan.

I have a Tracfone that cost $19.99 and I can get on Facebook with it, send texts, make calls, take pictures/videos and it's and mp3 player. I still mostly use it as a phone and sometimes an mp3 player.

Besides a smart owner, it needs an OS and the ability to connect online like a PC.

If it can't make julian fries with it ,it's not a smartphone,LOL.
-
I have Straight talk, which is made by the same company. I might go back to tracphone as the cards are cheaper...

This is why I'm confused about my phone, the sales person said my phone is NOT a smart phone but I CAN connect to the internet.

My phone is the same way. I can connect to the internet to download stuff for the phone (ringtones, updates), but that's it. It doesn't have a browser or a touchscreen... it's just a phone.
-
I have one, a Razor... but sadly, I am not smart enough - or patient enough - to learn all that it can do.
As long as it will do what I need it to do...that's all I care about. And my bill is cheaper than when I had a Treo.
I looked into getting a non contract phone, but I couldn't get any guarantee that I could call BFE, Utah. :( I ended up staying with Verizon on a 2 yr contract.

Mine has both. The only thing it does not do is.......talk to me. :-)

Thanks for the undeserved H5's!
My husband gets so much abuse about his phone at poker games, firehall meetings etc. Both of ours are 15 years old. They place and receive calls. Costs $20/month for some minutes. Meanwhile, his hip-yet-destitute son has all this gadgetry (purchased by his doting mother). I don't know how he pays the bill.
