I am a token liberal for the Detroit News politics blog. As anybody from SE Michigan would know, the Detroit News editorial page is a really right-wing operation. For a while, it ran a website called Michigan View, which could have been called "Freepers and Teabaggers on Parade."

After Michigan View was closed down (lack of advertising, I think), the News started a politics blog and recruited me to be one of the token liberals. The editors have been nothing but nice to me but the readers... not so much. As one might guess, the comments are usually critical and sometimes kind of abusive.

If anybody would be interested in taking on some of the teabaggers in the comments section, that would be awfully nice.

Here is my section of the blog: http://blogs.detroitnews.com/politics/author/jmelton/

With an attitude like that, I'd say you probably deserve it.

Someone with a Facebook account should C&P his DU post onto his Detroit News blog and let his readers know he's having to request others defend him since he, it seems, can't do it himself.  That should give them a laugh.

The typical DUmmie can't think for themselves.  They have to return to the hive to see what the collective thinks about any subject.  This is were a good dose of morals would help this DUmmie out of his little writers block.

Oh, Goody... I have cyber stalkers

So, yesterday I wrote what was originally supposed to be a PM to a few people, letting then know that I am blogging for the Detroit News. I wanted people to know I was there and (with any luck) post some non-abusive responses.

Well, for whatever reason, I actually posted that as a thread (in General Discussion) without thinking. I let it stay up for just a little while (maybe 15 minutes, maybe up to an hour, I am not sure). But then I thought better of it and deleted it because some of what I said could be seen as a slap at Henry Payne, the editor of that blog -- which was not my intention.

Despite its short history that post was cut and pasted and posted as a message on my blog. A couple people also "tweeted" excerpts to the Detroit News.

I expect people logging on to to call me an idiot. I am used to it . But this kind of thing is just weird. The News isn't even paying me, but its readers are trying to get me fired. Nice, eh?

Well, cyber-stalkers, it didn't work. Henry is a guy I disagree with on a lot of issues. But he's a real pro. He took my little mea culpa in stride.

On edit: This is a link to my blog posts: http://blogs.detroitnews.com/politics/author/jmelton/

The lucky dog primitive couldn't be that lucky.

The lucky dog primitive's not even a light-year within of being on this radar.

1. Hate-stalkers. That's too bad.

It's a shame they weren't "I-want-to-have-sex-with-you" stalkers.

Keep your chin up. Writing in support of the public interest is a noble calling...

13. BTW...

Three of my stalkers go by @RatsunTN, @paintkarz and @thundley4 on Twitter. I have the real name of a Facebook stalker, but I probably should not post it.

Just passing that along.

10. No more moderators...just hosts. They can't move stuff, either. It's a brave new world on DU3.

I hope you don't let a few stalking jerks get to you, though.

They must not have much in the way of a life.

Uh huh.

Anybody reading an obscure lumpenunterprimitiven like the lucky dog primitive can't have much in the way of a life.

7. sure, no problem

but it kind of seemed like it was a message being broadcast to whoever and GD would have a bigger audience (also seems to be where he may have picked up the stalker to whom he was messaging)

there have been any number of posts in the lounge where you could tell the person had probably clicked the wrong link from the "Latest Threads" page, since the Lounge is right below the GD link. I would guess probably half the very few SoP alerts hosts get for the Lounge are because of this.

so that is the long-winded explanation for why I asked

Apparently the lucky dog primitive missed this:

Retweeting someone is stalking them?

Well, there's no question this nameless, faceless loser is a lumpenunterprimitiven.

He could hardly be more insignificant or more obscure.

But his ignorant LTEs in the Detroit News represent journalism light-years beyond the level of the crazy bald dwarf.

The Detroit News, after all, is printed on actual PAPER.

Even if he's only in their online version, it's read by at least a thousand times more people than Crazy Miriam's online San Diego pennysaver.

The primitives really need to get a sense of proportion.

I mean, it's not as if decent and civilized people are observing all of them.

And the DUmpster's pretty tiny, compared with Skins's island; there aren't enough of us around to capture the violence, the sedition, the stupidity of all the primitives.

Me, for example, I can keep track of only circa 15 primitives at any one time.

And so if we notice a primitive, it's a mark of distinction.

James Melton has over 5,000 posts at DU but we're supposed to believe he can't tell the difference between a new topic post and a private message?  I have to wonder how dumb he thinks his "teabagger" readers are to swallow a lie like that.

He insulted his readership, then he requested "help" from the DUmpmonkies, in an attempt to pack the comments section with moonbattery.  He is unable to defend his assertions all by himself.  This is laziness and poor "journalism."  Somebody please do my work for me!!!

Nobody's stalking you, Melton.

P.S.  It wasn't a "PM."  It was a thread.  A public thread.  Are you internet-illiterate, or what?

No one's trying to get you fired, idiot.  You wanted a bunch of your fellow dolts to log onto your site and support your stupid opinions.  I suggested it'd be nice for your regular readers to know you need help defending your nonsense by posting your request on DU.  That's not stalking, dimwit.  The few readers you have deserve to know you called in the Keystone Cops of political knowledge to back you up, that's all.
