Oh my.

It's so boring on Skins's island this evening that I found myself in the bird-watchers' forum.

Bird crashes into glass windows - preventable

Put some stickers, even as small as postage stamps, here and there on the glass. It MUST BE ON THE OUTSIDE, not the inside. No more crashes.. Even one sticker on a small window is enough if it's about in the middle.

I've made several with a kit that Gram bought off qvc several years ago. It's fun too.

2. Thanks for that info. I have never heard of this.

I had a cardboard cutout silhouette of a raptor in flight that I put on my picture windows in the spring. I have also heard that you can spray the window with hair spray on the outside to get rid of the reflexion, but that is messy and you can't look out the window while it is sprayed.

3. it doesn't stop them from flying into the windows

When the hawk attempts to stoop on the birds at the feeders right outside!

I've got a series of posts with feeders hanging from them about 4-5 feet from the windows. About 40 feet away is an oak tree. Sometimes the hawk sits in the tree, then stoops on the flock of eating birds, sometimes he just makes a flyby.

If you have screens on the outside of your window, you don't need the decals, btw.

Hey dummies? I got an idea. Take the windows out and then you won't have to worry about birds flying into them.

The DUmmies didn't say if the birds were trying to fly in or out of the window.

My guess would be OUT!   :lmao:

The windows are so cloudy they look like the sky.

Never had this problem, I have not cleaned my windows in 10 years.  It does make it a small problem looking out but just as bad as anyone or thing looking in.

Windows are to let the light in the old days, today with electricity we can do better then that, so unless one has a 200 dollar  million view, why bother to have windows in the first place ???

Windows are over rated when they face a neighbors house, who wants to spend money for that view ??
Best not have windows that cost money as there are all ways air leaks and become warped in the seasons. Half the time the windows are covered by blinds or curtins, and most are put in upside down.

Windows need to be opened from the top not the bottom.  Difficult to break into a home when the windows are open at the top. Solid pane at the bottom difficult to crawl into.   Heat goes up and out the top.

We been thinking of getting a few windoes replaced in our home.  Strange but I am having a problem getting a contractor to put the new windows in upside down.  With ceiling fans the heat would be blown out the top open window, come winter the bottom pane fixed would not leak.

We have all grown up with opening windows from the bottom up, was this because it was the easiest way to construct a window ???  Why not reverse this idea with more benefits then those from 100 years ago ??
