Pro choice and anti-choice people use very different language around abortion
I have never heard or read a pro choice person say, for example, "I wanted to abort". I have heard and read anti-choicers use that particular phrase. The way people use language around abortion is an indicator of whether they are pro or anti choice.

Well of course we use different language about abortion. You goons think abortion is the equivalent of removing a gall bladder, we view abortion as killing an actual person.
I love how you idiots say you are pro choice when the reality is you are never for choice in any aspect of our lives except for when it comes to abortion and even then as long as the choice is abortion, you still try to dissuade people from finding alternatives to aborting.

1. True
They accuse pro-choice people of using terms like 'blob of cells,' but again, I never hear that from anyone except anti-choice people.
Pro-choice means the decision is up to you. It does not mean you want everyone who's ever been pregnant to get an abortion.
I've seen that used at DU many times. So unless they were pro life moles then yes pro abortion freaks use those terms.

4. I've used that term in discussions
with antichoice people. Something wrong with it? I use it in discussions with people that persist in saying 'baby' when referring to any abortion. I also use Zygote, fetus etc....
Anything but baby will do, if you are condoning murder.

2. Of course. repugs/today's 'conservatives,' have mastered the art of propaganda,

which largely consists of 'defining/framing' the problem/stating a premise, and Dems have failed miserably to do so in our favor.
We/Dems largely ignored Professor Lakoff's lessons. http://www.berkeley.edu/news/media/releases/2003/10/27_lakoff.shtml
As usual you have it backwards, the propaganda comes from you idiots. You are the ones who redefine terms every day.

3. Very true!
They really do go overboard with the rhetoric.
Yeah we tend to go overboard when discussing the murder of the unborn. :whatever:

22. I oppose abortion when the 'blob' of cells has become a human being -
at that point s/he deserves the protections given to all citizens of the U.S.
Of course, with everything else in life, when a blob of cells becomes a human being is something that not everyone agrees on, in fact, rarely agrees on.
Perhaps some research could provide an estimate which the legal system can use.
BTW - this doesn't depend on rape or incest. I hate that argument because it suggest to me that people who believe that base their opinion based on responsibility and not the child.

75. Plenty of women want to abort right up until birth
Edited on Thu Nov-03-05 01:36 AM by Quixote1818
Just recently their was a case where a girl asked her boyfriend to hit her in the stomach with a bat so she would miscarriage. She was well past the third trimester. How about all the abandoned babies in garbage cans? Obviously these women have severe mental problems and need psychological help.
Did you read the Polls qualifiers? Johnny Cougar wrote:
"or the purposes of this question, assume the child was NOT concieved due to rape or incest, and the health of the mother is NOT at risk."
Still 43% voted up until birth???

1. Maybe it's time for poor women who want to abort a child,
just abort the males. Then they'd have a real beef about abortions.

Well, it's kind of part of the job. I can't really fictionally guide them if I don't know and keep track of them. They're pretty much too stupid to ever listen to me, but I do try to take my job as a fictional spirit-guide seriously.
