DAVIE, Fla. (AP) -- Discussing his new job as Miami Dolphins coach, Tony Sparano sounded like Tony Soprano.

"I'm just happy to be part of the family," Sparano said.

The family includes his mentor, Bill Parcells, and general manager Jeff Ireland, who are transforming their new team into the Miami Cowboys.

Sparano is the latest transplant from Dallas. He was the Cowboys' assistant head coach before accepting an offer Wednesday to rejoin Parcells and Ireland.

The trio worked together in Dallas when Parcells was head coach in 2003-06

Okay, they can have Sparano, but please just let us keep Garrett! :bow2:

How do you think I feel?

Do we put a hat and gun on the dolphin or put up tony Soprano with a cowboy hat and loafers with no socks?

Nope.  He's got a new deal with Dallas.  He now has the title of assistant head coach and is making about as much as Phillips.

Good for the Cowboys. :cheersmate:

Now let's see how many Dallas free agents wind up in Miami.

Most of the key people are locked up.  The only two we really need to sign are Adams and Hamlin.

I thought Jones and Newman were free agents?

Newman isn't, and if Bill Parcells wants Julius Jones, he can have him.

I made my thoughts known in the shoutbox the day after the game.  For someone in a contract year, he never showed anything that would recommend that he be resigned.  Really a disappointment, considering how a played when he wasn't injured in his rookie year...
