Sorry, this is too #%^*ing weird
For four years, virtually every DU post of mine has turned into a re-creation of the final scene in Blazing Saddles, with almost all pies going into *my* face.
Suddenly, over the past few days, I've become mainstream. Or the mainstream has become me.
Boring!
Yep, that's my good pal Manny, always wanting to be the iconoclast but his style and grace and charisma get in his way.
He could charm a snake out of a tree, Manny could.
It's obvious the primitives have been playing "guess the primitive's gut" game along with us.

Just do it in the context of some 'serious' issue and you can use all the vulgar, sex words you want. I laugh at how obvious it is the thrill some of them get out of pretending to be outraged over some sexual thing or another and in the process, very seriously of course, pragmatically even, they roll out every sex word they ever heard in their lives.
Just make sure you provide 'context' and you won't get in trouble at all. Everyone will be serious with you.

You know, I'm sure I've met Manny in real life.
Not 100% sure, but something like 99.67548% sure.
And of course "Manny" isn't his real name.
Back in 1986-1991, I went to Boston once a year, to visit a college classmate and his wife; they had connections in the publishing business, and were convinced I had it in me to write something.
They introduced me to a lot of people--nobody big, but a few who were reasonably medium-sized in that industry.
(Nothing came of it, because I heard the socialist paradises beckoning and went there instead of staying home and writing anything.)
"Manny" wasn't in the business, but he was reasonably well-connected with so many people in Boston, and one couldn't avoid running into him, if one hung around long enough.
Now, my pal's politics of course are preposterous, ridiculous, nonsense, laughable, but at the same time, one rarely meets a person so.....well, personable, social, gregarious, charming.
The guy's such a good talker one could only stare open-mouthed in amazement, he's that good.
And it wasn't an act, his concern for others. It was real, his concern for others.
I was awed.
I told him that if he had half the money the Kennedys did, and ran against one of them for office, the Kennedy wouldn't get into double digits.
I remember Manny, but he probably wouldn't remember franksolich, because people probably tell him the same things every day.

Well, you know, I dunno anything about movies, as I never watch them.
I was vaguely recalling him as a character in one of the Yiddish tales of Shalom Aleichem or Sholem Asch.

Maybe you've never heard of Manny before because ever since the DUmpster was first created, I subtly discouraged anyone from quoting him, out of affection for an old pal?
But then a couple of months ago, Manny said--and said it publicly--"Oh, what the Hell--go ahead."
