Man no longer allowed to visit husband at KC hospital
Source: Fox 4 Kansas City(not Fox news)
LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. — A Lee’s Summit man is fighting a restraining order that he says was issued against him after he says he was arrested for refusing to leave the bedside of his sick partner.
Roger Gorley went to visit his partner, Allen at Research Medical Center, 2316 E. Meyer Blvd., Tuesday afternoon.
He says when he got there, a member of Allen’s family asked him to leave.
When Gorley refused, he says hospital security forcibly removed him from the property and put him in handcuffs.
“I was not recognized as being the husband, I wasn’t recognized as being the partner,†Gorley said.
While not legally recognized as a couple in Missouri, Gorley says he and his partner Allen have been in a civil union for nearly five years, and make medical decisions for each other.
He says the nurse refused to verify they also share joint Power of Attorney.
“She didn’t even bother to go look it up to check into it,†Gorley said. “He’s been at the psychiatric unit part several times.â€

1. If he's lucky, he'll get a phone call from an uppity night nurse

who has sent the family home to get some rest and is willing to sneak him in during the wee hours like I used to do, risking job and license but o bla di.
This is why marriage is essential, it promotes an unrelated life partner to first degree relative status, ahead of someone's blood relatives.
Allen's family is behaving shabbily.
Says the hideous ole bag who lost her license.

10. It looks like they are suggesting the husband was "disruptive to providing necessary patient care".
Typical liberal.

It also says the guy has been in and out of mental hospitals. It's quite possible his parents were already his power of attorney, and he is not actually a power of attorney (simply thinks that he is). I've seen strange things in psych hospitals like this.
Unfortunately, to the state he's nothing more than a "best friend".. so I doubt there is much that can be done with it. It'd be no different than if my parents tried to throw my girlfriend out of the hospital room.
I hate when families fight in hospitals (no matter the circumstances) but usually, there's a lot of underlying issues when the fight occurs, and I would be surprised if it was just because they are gay.
It'll all play out in court most likely, but the damage will be done.
This.
The queer is probably lying, as DUmmies are prone to do.

6. The patient's needs cannot be their top priority if his spouse is not able to be with him.

The family should have been the ones having to leave.
Are they legally married or just between bath house engagements?

7. If he was "disruptive" because the hospital failed to recognize a legal power of attorney

then the hospital will be writing a large check to settle the oncoming lawsuit.
Their hospital motto must be - Do harm
#fail
He should sue!!!

So we don't know the full story, was the "husband" an abusive ass? maybe they family knew more than that little story let on. Why do they always ASSume it's about trying to hurt the gay guy or something?
-
The fact that security put him in handcuffs tells me that he was being disruptive. I know that at my hospital, Power of Attorney information is very easy to find in the chart, so I doubt that the nurse refused to "look it up," but rather she probably had paperwork saying else wise.

But that part wouldn't advance the liberal agenda.

What an ass. I'll bet he's full of shit.

I'm thinking that the maternal/paternal family had the tab A nutzo declared legally incompetent and unable to make his own decisions. Then the tab B nutzo talked tab A into giving him the POA, where he didn't have the legal right to do so. Tab B pulls the POA out of his ass and the family tells him to go to hell, which led to the tantrum, handcuffs and eviction.
I wonder if he bounced as high as his version of the tale when he hit the cement.

Outside the perverted confines of the democrat party, that phrase makes no sense.

For its part, Research Medical Center insisted that it does not discriminate based on sexual orientation.
“We believe involving the family is an important part of the patient care process,†the hospital said in a statement. “And, the patient`s needs are always our first priority. When anyone becomes disruptive to providing the necessary patient care, we involve our security team to help calm the situation and to protect our patients and staff. If the situation continues to escalate, we have no choice but to request police assistance.â€
Gorley cannot currently visit his partner at all due to a restraining order issued after his arrest on Tuesday.

This is so sad, say this was a heterosexual couple that took a cross country trip. An accident put the male in the hospital and his family came out to wherever they were. For some reason the males family did not like their sons girlfriend and refused to allow her to visit her boyfriend.
Here she is far from home, perhaps her boyfriend held the travel money, she is far from home, no money and no way to let her boyfriend know she loves him.
The reason why when I and a female friend visited Canada, what fun. We both got POA to any health care on each other. This extended to all property on either of us. I had 4 kids to protect she 2 kids. We, neither of us had gone off from 2 weeks to head out into the unknown and we tried to cover all bases.
Sad the gay couple got the shaft from their own family, comes down to no need to marry, just get a POA ON ALL THINGS, they do not need to marry. The POW can be revoked but a marriage costs so much more to disolve.

Was something lost in translation?

Even a first tier relative would be given the boot.
If the catcher hadn't pitched a fit, maybe this wouldn't have happened.

That's one of the benefits of marriage instead of shacking up.

Nurses hate getting caught in the crossfire of these "who can visit who" wars and family squabbles of all kinds. Odds are, the nurse was already aware of who had POA and whatever feuds were simmering. Most of that stuff tends to come out in the admission process and gets circulated among the staff in report. The "spouse" was probably a maximum drama queen with whom the family had been fighting for a long time.

Then one has this problem one woman had, 70 years old in a nursing home. Her 60 year old husband would come to visit and demand the door to her room be kept closed while he was there.
Her children from a former marriage pitched a fit when one of the staff mentioned that after the visits their mother had unaccounted bruises in her vaginal area and other places on her body.
At one time in winter when he left his wife was found in the room with the window wide open and she covered with ice water from the pitcher at her bed side.
We all knew what he was up to but could not prove it, he was with in his rights to visit his wife and control her health care.
One of the nurses suggested to the woman's grand child they set up a hidden camera in the room. The Home would not allow this as they feared a law suit if one of their Nurses was caught doing the slightest thing wrong.
The camera was set up anyway and the tapes proved their worse fears. The family took the tapes to the DA and the home Administration, result was the tapes were illegally taken and could not be used in Court.
What to do, finally they moved the woman to a room with 3 bed mates all mentally sharp. Excuse was in the woman's condition she was too far from the Nurses station. Husband threw a fit even as the monthly cost to the family went way down from single room to one in a semi ward.
The husband used his wife's money to hire lawyers to fight this, but word had gone out to other Homes in the area about the problems and there was no place to remove her to in the area.
He finally moved her into an apartment with 24/7 health aids on scene. To our great sadness we read her Orb. a couple months later.
Moral to the Gays out there that want marriage so bad, If you have family or children, once you marry in a State that allows it, whoever you marry now has total controll of your life, the partner now can oversee to the detriment of your children, parents, friends.
Same as to heterosexuals that have children from another relationship. The first family and children must come first before a new mate.

This lends a whole new meaning to the term "unplugged".

The local news from KC says that is exactly what happened.
The boyfriend got into a screaming fight with the sick guy's brother, then screamed at a nurse, finger in her face, etc. He was arrested by KCPD. The hospital received an ex parte order of protection (temporary restraining order) prohibiting the boyrfriend from entering hospital property except as a patient.
A hospital spokesman said that Research Medical Center recognizes homosexual partners, but the boyfriend's behavior was disruptive.

There's the rub--they think that gay marriage will allow them to act like jerks with impunity.

They can play the bigot card. They have an Ace in the hole. (I hope the retarded fag wasn't called Ace)

“He’s been at the psychiatric unit part several times.â€
Sounds like you were there a few more, butt-boy.

If he has the power of attorney (and vice versa) and they were that important to each other, they'd carry the powers of attorney WITH them at all times. That's the compassionate thing to do, especially if there are immediatel & critical decisions to be made. However, one thing no one ever thought about: maybe the partner was throwing a drama queen tantrum just because other family members had come to visit and he thinks he's the ONLY person who should see him. Maybe the drama queen is mentally abusive and is the one responsible for his frequent trips to the mental hospital and the other family members didn't think it was beneficial for their son/brother to wake up and first thing he sees is his abuser.
DUmmies only see the "partner kicked out" and never read beyond that. But then, they're incredibly shallow, why would they bother to read beneath the surface on this?
