A Tulane professor and MSNBC host named Melissa Harris-Perry, in a video found here, suggests that your children do not belong to you, but rather, they belong to the collective. If only we can "break through the idea that children belong to their parents or kids belong to their families," she says, then we can make "better investments" in public education.

I went to school in the projects (another grand idea in liberal education). You can't tell me the shit I saw 20-25 years ago isn't happening today on a far greater scale. Parents that don't care, lazy or overworked teachers, kids from homes so broken they have no idea why they're at school in the first place. Hell, I was in the sixth grade and one of my classmates already had his driver's license and a car, not to mention the two pregnant girls in my fifth grade class (one of them was on her second set of children).
