Title: primitive just had a bath

Oh my.

Okay, some might remember this primitive from recently, when he whined about getting "only" $7000 in welfare, and had finally gotten a home due to an inheritance.

I just had a bath!

this won't mean much to most.

But I've been living in a trailer for almost 6 years -

could only bathe outside on warm summer days.

Inheritance allowed me to not only buy a home, but also rent a housekeeping unit at a local motel while I wait to have access to the home I bought, and move my belongings off the farm I was living at.

Found out I wasn't tanned that much, just FILTHY!

DIRTY WHITE BOY! - That I was, - but no more.

Almost no one up here where I live believed me I used to be called a "neat freak"

but my motel room, although untidy, is clean.

Moving makes a mess.

Unplugged my laptop, put on some tunes -

Lydna Scott "You can crash Here" - and a slide show of my camping spots - set the lap on the toilet seat(lid down) and watched and listened while I bathed.

Embellished a meal I had in my slow-cooker, put it in the microwave and left it on while I bathed.

I be organized!

and happy

The primitive below's not to be confused with the bitter old Vermontese cali primitive; this one lives in southernmost Texas, about as far south as one can get down there.

1. I can relate

busted secondary pump for like a month two summers ago, and no gas for a month and a half last fall.

also frequent pipeline brakes (we pump from almost 6 miles away and 600 feet in elevation. yeah, a simple warm shower can be PURE LUXURY.

congrats on your new digs

2. "a simple warm shower can be PURE LUXURY." ya got it!

but a long soak in a tub when it's below freezing . .

that's all new to me!

Well, for the last 6 years anyway.

3. tell the truth -

did you really soak in a tub or did you take a shower?

c'mon. we can take it. inquiring minds want to know.

4. Sorry, never thought to take pictures.

But I did indeed soak in a tub, listening to my lap on the toilet seat and watching pix of my camping spots.

Why would I make that up??

6. We take a lot of 'small' things for granted.

We who live in U.S. urban and suburban areas.

You flip the switch and the lights go on.
In the early days of electricity it was a rich man's luxury.

You turn on the faucet and get clean water.
(in most places where municipal water is available)

You get up in the middle of the night to take a whiz and you don't have to trek out to a small building built over a hole dug in the ground.

Too hot?
Turn the thermostat down.
Too cold?
Turn it up.

Don't even get me started on computers and the internet.
Years ago, if a question about anything popped into my head..."Who was FDR's secretary of state?...When did the War Department become the Department of Defense?" I'd have had to go to a library to do the research and that would have been too much of a bother.

Now I can find the answers in a few mouse clicks.

Congrats on your nice hot bath and thanks for making me think about what I have.

7. "You flip the switch and the lights go on." yeah, that's sorta cool!

Old saying that most of us know

"Ya don't know what ya got 'till it's gone" - In my case, a decent life.

NEW sayings for me . .

"REMEMBER how it was, and appreciate your good fortune"

"Give back to those that assisted you"

Food Bank is in my budget.

And will be assisting others in need with transportation, or connecting them with others who can do this for them.

I've lived in this small community of around 2,000 people on and off for over 30 years.

I know almost half the town, and they know me.

Here to stay, I'll help anyone I can.

I'm bookmarking this thread in my folder of links I show friends when they ask why I read the DUmp.  That's the highest accolade I can award a thread at the DUmp.  Congratulations, concernedcanuk primitive.

Dirty, stinking hippie that never amounted to anything finally washes themselves, there is a scoop for ya Nads.

Btw,why did this person not pay 90+% of this inheritance windfall to some governmental authority?
No doubt it has soaked up much more then that in public funds over the years.

He's lived in a community of 2000 people for 30 years and claims he knows half.  It's just amazing to me that instead of having leveraged those relationships to find and maintain work so that his hovel would at least have some running water and electricity.  I mean, someone would have given him work doing something I suppose.  My guess is that yeah, they know him....and it ain't so good.

I hated all my work at which I labored under the sun because I must leave it to the man who comes after me.  And who knows whether he will be a wise man or a fool?  Yet he will take over all my work that I labored at skillfully under the sun...
...For there is a man whose work was done with wisdom, knowledge, and skill, but he must give his portion to a man who has not worked for it.

Who said it, Solomon, or the concernedcanuk primitive's late relative?

Trick question, as I believe it to be uttered by both.

The other DUmmy who claims to never bathe is cbayer the thread slayer.

The odor must be overwhelming in the cramped confines of that tiny boat.

Of course many DUmmies don't bathe - it's the sophisticated European way to live - but not many admit it.

We've had power out for a week in winter because of a storm. No power means no running water and no heat. We were never filthy during that week.

We had jugs of water that we collected while there was still water in the well's tank. We heated that on a fire and washed in a sink. We refilled the empty jugs at places that still had running water.

I say again, we were never filthy.

Quite the revelation for a DUmmy. Seriously. Why announce that to the world? Is This really something other DUers need to know? Or is it hoping that CCers will pick this up?

Just another member of the most intelligent people on the interwebs. Must be a connection between disgusting personal habits and inflated DU self worth.

A daily bath at a sink, or even with a bowl of water and soap, would remove dirt, dust and smell fairly consistently.  If you have access to soap and water, there is no excuse for being filthy.

Or become a conservative. Maybe a closeted one at first but eventually the lice-ridden DUmpite will start to disgust him and he will start to disgust himself. And then he will change or become a junkie.

Ewww- imagine what the water looked like in that tub.

He couldn't scrape up 1.00 for a bar of soap and wash in a public restroom?

Too disgusting for words.

There's another DUmmie, I can't remember her name, she doesn't bathe either (beside cbayer).  She applies oil to herself like the ancient Egyptians.  A greasy, filthy, smelly mess.  And don't get me started on that "dirty hair" smell...revolting!

That was the Lionessa primitive, not to be confused with the LionessPryanka primitive.

She was kicked off Skins's island a few weeks ago, although I have no idea why.

She'd been living--allegedly--with a sugar daddy, a senile old fart with money.

Every two months or 3000 miles, whichever comes last.

If she switched to synthetic, she could go 10,000 miles between body odor oil changes.

There was one as well that to either conserve paper or water used a towel to dry off after pissing.
I think she said she washed it once every week or two.

Speaking of hygiene, who could forget Pryanka's filthy apartment?  Garbage strewn on the floor, under the radiators.  Junk all over the place.  I doubt her "wife/husband" is much of a housekeeper either; she wore the tux to the wedding.

Exactly.

When I'm camping, I put jugs of water in the sun for a few hours.  One gallon is more than enough to wash your body and the water is warm.

They hate the "filthy stinking hippie" stereotype, and then threads proudly discussing pride in lack of cleanliness pop up on DU.
