CA: Bill introduced to legally equate e-cigs to cigarettes.

California: Attempt to Add E-Cigarettes to "Smoking" Ban -- SB 648
If enacted, this bill would:
Ban the use of vapor products wherever smoking is banned. Among those provisions most likely to impact users are those that would:
Permit landlords to ban e-cigarette use in private homes. (Section 2)
Ban e-cigarette use inside or within 20 feet of any public building or in a vehicle owned by the state. (Section 5)
Ban e-cigarette use in hospitals and medical facilities, except in specifically defined rooms where smoking is allowed (Sections 7 and 8)
Declares that the use of electronic cigarettes “is a hazard to the health of the general public,†and would include e-cigarettes in all future smoking bans passed in California. (Section 14)
Ban e-cigarette use in workplaces. Violations would be punishable by fines of $100, $200, and $500. (Section 15)
Ban e-cigarette use in railroads and air carriers. (Section 16)

ETA: Last time I was on Amtrak or an airline we passengers were scolded that all the no-smoking rules included e-cigs.

They're going for prohibition again. Only this time, it's cigarettes, and anything that is a better alternative, and will supplement the smoker. 1. Vapors are no danger. 2. The studies lefties have done on actual cigarette smoke have proved freaking NOTHING in their favor. They are bought, and paid for by more rich lefties, because they don't LIKE it. Period. The smell is what they don't like. They ain't the one taking it in first hand. 3. Now they want to take away or tax a product invented specifically to appease lefty asshats, and help smokers?Eff them with a piece of glass!

I haven't checked the link yet but I'm wondering who thought this one up and what they're basing it on...what factual need there is for such a law.
I wondered that same thing about the smoking ban bullcrap.

Some of the e-cigs do have a pretty good cloud of "vapor" that looks like smoke. The smell is gross and disgusting and those with the ecigs do not hesitate to blow it in your face. Some of the brands are worse then others. Trust me on this.
If it pisses the Dummies off, I am all for the new law. :lmao:

My wife has tried a few different brands of the e-cigs. So far I haven't been able to smell any of them.

No Rob, I don't believe you. I use e-cigs, and they do not smell. It's water vapor. I've used several types for a couple years now, around friends and relatives. Non-smoking ones. It offends them not in the least. They do not smell.
And you really want more laws on the books restricting and regulating behavior?

Yes some of them do smell or leave an odor and can be fairly strong, especially when the person using the e-cig blows the vapor in your face. I know this to be factual.
Not all brands are the same, some are much better then others.

My comments simply refer to the those that rudely blow the vapor in your face, you are going to smell it every time.

That's what bothers be about the new CA law proposal - the only thing that could be problematic about an E-Cigarette are those who choose to be over-the-top rude while using them. Which suggests to me that CA is using the E-Cig to codify leftist definitions of moral behavior. IMHO, this goes well beyond slippery slope, and moves to immediately to cliff-diving.
Once the left are green lighted to legislate morality, they can legislate anything at any time.

I agree about the rudeness. I would like to see the CA lawmakers prove that the second hand vapor is dangerous as their proposed legislation claims.

Our local health department nazis got their panties in a wad about ecigs because the reason they used to enact the smoking ban in any building not a residence was based entirely on second hand smoke.** Now they are looking to ban ecigs but can't because there are no studies about second hand ecig smoke.
I tried one for the first time about a week ago since work is sending me to Maryland right outside DC and there isn't a smoking hotel anywhere round those parts. They are not bad, will do in a pinch I guess.
The reason for smoking bans has nothing to do with second hand smoke. It has to do with making it so difficult for smokers to exist they quit. That is their ultimate goal.
Ma Perky told me a while back that she feels like she should paint a scarlet S on her forehead and go around shouting "Unclean!!! Unclean!!! Smoker coming thru!!!!".
** They tried to push thru a ban in apartment buildings as well but lots of people showed up at the meeting and apparently they threatened the health nazis with bodily harm. It never went anywhere.

The refugees from the blue hell holes just got my county to pass a smoking ban here......went into effect the first of March. The next step will be to ban burning wood for heat......and then something else.
I'd like to see a ban on blue hell hole refugees moving in down here.....you piss in your bed, you have to sleep in it.

Once they've eradicated smokes, they'll try it with fatty foods, (already started) then they'll go to cars, etc, etc, etc. Of course, eradication of these things will never actually happen, so that tax the holy hell out of them as a backup plan. Permanent banishment of these items is their end goal; what they want, though.

I've been told before they don't smell, but I know I smelled SOMETHING with this one woman who used them up at work inside the building enough that I told her if she didn't stop using them around me, I'd go to HR about it. She blew it in my face a couple of times to be snarky.
I did a little research, and I guess there are flavor packets or something that you can use in them. I'm sure now that must have been what she was using, and it was ass flavored.
