Saw this story on Fox(y) and Friends this morning, where there is a group whom wants to change the way how words are spelled because it is "too tough" for students to correctly spell certain words.
Wasn't it the liberals whom lambasted Dan Quale on how he spelled POTATO?
Maybe if educators did their job and taught their students how to spell, they wouldn't have such a hard time spelling.
-
Huh? That's insane...do you have a link that explains further?
-
"amuk" {sic} is spelled. "amok". ::)

If you wear pointy-toed boots it will hurt more.
It's also spelled a-m-u-c-k.

While we are at it, let's remove all the forms of "to be." And accept "had said" as valid grammer (I am testing the spelling theory -- yep, I feel dumber already, but not as dumb as a liberal).

I agree. That's total BS. Do you have the link?

This movement to "reform" spelling actually goes back to Robert McCormick of the old Chicago Tribune, the first half of the last century.
If the political-correctnessists and primitives knew this, given that McCormick was a diehard reactionary, they'd drop it like a lead ball.
The Chicago Tribune created, and used, such horrid grotesque truncations such as "altho," "tho," "cigaret," "catalog," "thru," and so on. My mother was influenced by this, and used them in her own writing; even my 5th grade teacher used those monstrosities.
Well, it obviously didn't work.
Things exist for a reason, words are spelled certain ways for a reason, and it's always a good idea to find out why, before one messes with them.

Well no wonder they want it to be phonetic. That is the way their heroes spell. Most muslim nations spell thing phonetically.

Yup home schooling of my kids or sending them to Charter/Private school is sounding better and better all the time.
God forbid we make the little darlings actually have to learn to spell and use correct grammar.
That would cut into Socialist Indoctrination time and wipe out the story time block for "Susie Has Two Mommies".
