OK. About the Georgia murder of the toddler.
The other day, someone on DU who I like and respect, pm'd me, asking why I didn't just admit that I was wrong in finding the mother, Sherry West to be suspicious. Couldn't I just publicly admit that I was wrong, the DUer asked? I responded that I still wasn't entirely comfortable with the mother's story. Now, maybe I am a hundred percent wrong and if so, I will publicly admit to that, but I'm not there yet. There have been too many stories in the past that haunt me where people wrongly accuse others of something they perpetrated. Now clearly I'm not saying that West actually shot herself and the baby but she could have been behind it.

There have been many cases like that, and most of them have been blacks or gays faking hate crimes against themselves.

I'm glad you said MOST there...the first one that comes to my mind is Susan Smith....

That is because it was covered endlessly by the media. Most of the so-called hate crimes only receive attention until they turn out to be false and then the media drops the story like a hot potato.

I also think the baby's mother is suspect.
It may just be that she's a trailer-trash schizoid retard, but she gave off some powerful Susan Smith vibes.
The permanently unemployed, one-legged, wallduded DUmmy cali only says that because the guys arrested are black thugs, whom she's bound to defend, but it still disturbs me that I agree with her in substance.

I don't think she is lying on the kids who were arrested...the fact that the boys mother and aunt were arrested for lying to police doesn't help them. Also, some statements that the mother and aunt made actually led the police to the murder weapon (don't know all the details on what they said...but that is what the news here is reporting). It IS suspect that they shot her baby in the head and only shot her in the leg....was having her watch her baby shot some sick revenge for her not having any money to give them? Sadly, I would believe this of some of today's teens....

It sounds like a very strong case against the hoodlums they arrested. But it' still strange. She had the baby cremated the following day. She had a superficial wound while the baby was shot in the head. Her first question to her grown daughter was how soon she could expect to get paid on the baby's life insurance. And just the fact that someone in her circumstances would even have life insurance on an infant.

Now it is getting more....uh....interesting for lack of a better word.

Every one of you is missing the big issue. If guns weren't so easy to get this would have never happened.
It's all the gun's fault.

I'm with you. That damned gun probably forced itself into 0's sons hands.

I agree with you, and I understand how she is suspect to you. As far as life insurance on an infant...there are some parents who get life insurance on their kids for college purposes. Apparently, the police in Brunswick don't believe she had anything to do with it.
BTW...they indicted the 17-year old today for the shooting, as well as another shooting.
The indictment also charges Elkin with trying to rob a man at gunpoint March 11 and shooting the victim in the arm.
The boy's mother and sister (not sure if it's his sister or his mother's sister) were charged with trying to dispose of the gun in the lake.

The thing that got me most was the DAY after her baby was killed, there was a news article and it said she packed up her babies clothes and toys to donate, because he wouldn't be needing them anymore. :???: :???: Who does that? Who loses their baby, especially in a sudden, tragic, unexpected way, and the next day they bag up all his stuff, donate it, and then give out news interviews.
Her behavior is bizarre.

Yes they do. But she seems like the last person on earth who would do that.
The whole thing may just boil down to her being as crazy as Dennis the Menace.

I wonder if the two that were arrested were set up somehow and the real perp is in collusion with the mother. I watch too much TV.

Can't blame anyone for trying to second guess a murder especially one so blatant, Daytime, in public.
How callous we have become in the last 30 years, or should I say educated in Real Life. Some of us go our intire lives untouched by a murder, kidnapping or any kind of Police or Criminal Court actions in the family.
Deaths come about due to illness, accident, suicide, act of war or just old age. When it comes to Murder, having LT. Colombo show up at my door, being taken to the station for questioning------out side my grasp of reality.
Why does Murder fascinate us and why are the parents and step parents the first to be looked into?

Yeah, but how much insurance can one reasonably buy for an infant/toddler? The insurance I have had on the children when they were little was just enough to bury them in case they died.
