Title: Huckabee: If the GOP switches on gay marriage, evangelicals walk
Post by: pissant on March 26, 2013, 07:06:53 PM
A shot across the bow of Beltway Republicans on Gay Marriage Day at the Supreme Court.

Alternate headline: “Huckabee’s running in 2016.”

When asked if he believes the Republican Party will change its position and support gay marriage in a Wednesday Newsmax interview, Huckabee remarked, “They might, and if they do, they’re going to lose a large part of their base because evangelicals will take a walk.”…

“And it’s not because there’s an anti-homosexual mood, and nobody’s homophobic that I know of,” he continued, “but many of us, and I consider myself included, base our standards not on the latest Washington Post poll, but on an objective standard, not a subjective standard.”…

“If we have subjective standards, that means that we’re willing to move our standards based on the prevailing whims of culture,” he said. “I think politicians have an obligation to be thermostats, not just thermometers. They’re not simply to reflect the temperature of the room, or the culture, as it were. They’re to set the standards for law, for what’s right, for what’s wrong, understanding that not everybody’s going to agree with it, not everybody’s going to accept it.”

I walked long ago, but between pimping for amnesty and potentially for poofer marriage now, the GOP may be able to hold their next convention at a Denny's.

Nicolle Wallace, you remember her, she pretty much blamed Sarah Palin for McCain's defeat.  :lmao:

She supports gay marriage.

Wallace is among dozens of Republicans who filed a brief in the Supreme Court case arguing for Prop 8 to be overturned.

Karl Rove also supports gay marriage apparently.

EDITOR’S NOTE: A previous version of this article stated that Rove said he could imagine the next GOP presidential nominee  supporting gay marriage. Rove instead had said he could imagine a Republican presidential candidate in the next election supporting gay marriage.

Rove responded in a statement, “I was asked if I could see A Republican presidential candidate supporting gay marriage in 2016 and I said I could (eg, Jon Huntsman endorsed civil unions in 2012). I was not asked if I could see THE Republican presidential candidate or the GOP presidential nominee as the ABC website has said this afternoon.”

I have to admit, I watched that interview and "heard" Rove the way the headline reads. My bad.  :thatsright:

BUT, plenty of liberal republicans do support gay marriage.  :whatever:

Hell if the GOP loses another election I imagine they will jump on the gun control safety bandwagon.

They already support the unconstitutional, myriad agencies harassing the populace, as well as the lightly loafered in the military, the vile, orwellian, so-called hate speech/crime laws, and a thousand other ridiculous leftwing ideas.  Guns are next.

Honestly guys -- WHO GIVES A FLYING F&*^!

Our country is heading straight into receivership and all Huckabee can talk about is leaving the party because of gay marriage???!!

 :banghead:

That is the absolute VERY last thing I will be looking for in a candidate.   Actually, scratch that - I won't be looking for it at all.

....and I thought donkey screwing was a Mexican thing. The donkeys(democrats) have been screwing us for years. This is just another way of sticking it to us to buy votes for the donkey politicians. Queers/Lezboes will be able to cash in on the benefits of Medicaid, Medicare, avoid inheritance taxes, joint filing of taxes....hey, it's the democrat way....avoid paying taxes while sucking the government tit dry.

You may want to look over the 2012 elections, primary and general, to see where the GOP base is on this one.  :-)

I do.  The financial will never be fixed as long as the moral and social are left to the deviant and unethical.
