3. Hell Yes, and
Why aren't more people talking about how to raise the rest of the country up to postal benefit standards, rather than lowering the USPS to the public's pitiful level?

Bless the postal employees having to go through this. GOP just can't stand success, especially if it involves a union.
NOTE: this is my second effort to harvest this thread. My first effort was stymied by a browser crash. On my first effort the signature of juajen read, "RIP Andy Stephenson" as I was actually copying it to mke special mention of it. Now, to me at least, it does not.
What's up with that?

So, William Whoreson has, of late, been reduced to posting retreads from toothout.com from the Iraq war so as to retain any semblance of relevance. Now, the Nads swing forth to cast a hanging shadow over him. Will he ever regain his place as the Toolshed's preeminent journalist?

What does the GOP have to do with the post office? Aside from the USPS needing a bailout every three months - TO PAY THEIR UNION PENSIONS

The USPS and "success" are about as far removed from each other as the Vanderbilt mansion and George Obama's mud hut.
-
**** the unions. City workers didn't plow our street today so the ***** mailman didn't deliver the mail.

Pssst......see above. Then, tell me about Greece,...Spain,.....France,......

I look at the definition of success, and then I look at the Post Office.
Look at success, then back to the Post Office, then back to success, Post Office...yeah, not seeing a correlation between the two, sorry.

While I'm no fan of the USPS so far as their management ability goes, I must admit that it is one of the best postal systems in the world. For the price, as compared to other countries, they have been providing a bargain. I can count on one hand how many times that have screwed up my mail and I'm almost 50 years old.
I say this because, we have experience with one of the worst postal systems in the world. My wife and her family have had to mail things to and from Iran. In that country, theft is a perk for postal employees. You can't mail anything that even has the slightest appearance of value or it will never make it. It will show up opened and taped shut with anything of interest to the postal employee missing. Many times, either direction, it can take several months for a letter to be delivered.
International US postage stamps are $1.05. Return postage from most countries is 2 or 3 times that. I know this because I exchange QSL cards with ham operators all over the world to confirm radio contacts. However, electronic methods are starting to catch on.
Having said all of this, if the USPS cannot manage themselves properly in the present competitive environment, they deserve to fail.

they don't go by their creed?
Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.

You can't possibly have snow on the ground this late into March. What with all the global warming and all. :whistling:

Typical DUmmies: "How can I be out of money!? I still have checks!"

I sent a tweet to Al Gore asking him to come shovel the global warming out of my drive, but he didn't reply.

I agree the U.S. Junk Mail Service does a terrific job.
I doubt there is a postal system anywhere in the world that can compare.
But GM could build the greatest cars in the world and sell them for $10K apiece if they didn't have to consider profit and loss.
As long as USPS provides nearly free transport and delivery for millions of tons of advertising, while providing millions of plush union jobs, they will be in trouble.
I noticed this in the Columbus Dispatch a few days ago:
Earlier this year, the U.S. Postal Service announced a staggering $11.6 billion loss for the first nine months of 2012. I’m not aware of all the ins and outs of its predicament, but I continue to be astounded at the amount of third-class mail I receive on a daily basis. I decided to do my own test by separating my unwanted, unsolicited, unread third-class junk mail last week.
I only weighed the portion I didn’t even bother to page through. It totaled 5 pounds, 3.6 ounces. Multiplying this by the number of households (2011 figures, U.S. Census Bureau) and it comes to a staggering 691,331,310 pounds of junk mail a week.

Remember folks, don't over load the mail with your junk.

I would hope not.

The topic of this thread is disgusting.
Also, I don't think Nads knows what success means.
