PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Maybe Punxsutawney Phil is believing a little too much in climate change this year? Severe cold weather continues to hold its grip on the Pittsburgh area, and now one Ohio prosecutor is seeking the death penalty for Punxsatawney Phil.

Groundhogs are not the best predictor for the weather. Why give it the death penalty.

If I was the prosecutor, I would see the death penalty for all rabbits, gyrfalcons, goshawks, ermines, magpies, and ground squirrels.

Maybe he mistook it for a rabbit?

But only after they consumed all of the ptarmigans and grouse.

More seriously, I'd support Phil being in the crosshairs of a scoped varmint rif(f)le.

Simple, open and shut case- the State of Ohio has no standing, as the act alleged in the indictment occurred in Pennsylvania, outside its jurisdiction.

But Punxetawny Phil is taking no chances.

Maybe this is a subliminal warning to weather people everywhere...
If it could happen to Phil...

Didn't Italy sue scientists for not predicting an earthquake?
