U.S. still paying Civil War veterans' families

This does not bother me one bit. Why is this an issue? Yes, American government has financial problems. I have no problems with veterans and their family getting benefits including this. They served their country. I think we do not treat our veterans well enough. They deserve better. I say veterans and soldiers deserve way better than politicians. I rather see this than some person person getting welfare.

But she stopped getting benefits when she was 18(quite rightly so).I not sure how is calculated, I have mixed feelings about that too..

There are two children of other veterans of the Civil War still being paid; it looks as if a veteran had disabled children uneducable and unable to work, they got his pension for life, just as his widow did.

Each for $876 a  year.

One has to remember the subconscious reason for this article; it's subtly an anti-war, ant-veterans, story.

That is what came to my mind.

I'm not seeing any issue what so ever with those payments.  That's spot on though, about the article merely using that as a pretext for an agenda piece.
