Quite the fall from grace in the eyes of the DUmmies. Performed at an Earth Day concert, arrested during eviction of Occupy Los Angles, homophobe.

Michelle Shocked makes shocking statement.
Source: Dangerous Minds
Michelle Shocked committed career suicide last night at a club appearance in San Francisco. The “Texas troubadour†displayed some red state intolerance when she announced from the stage that “God hates fags.†Apparently the former skateboard punk wasn’t kidding.
Michelle Shocked, known for living up to her surname, cleared out San Francisco club Yoshi’s last night, and shut down the venue, after she went on an anti-gay tirade, which she summed up by saying, â€You can go on Twitter and say ‘Michelle Shocked says God hates fags.’â€
And they did.
Yes, according to folks who were there – and Twitter – she really did say this – in San Francisco of all places!

Yowza. I had no idea Michelle Shocked was a homophobic RWNJ. I learn something new every day.

14. I remeber her from the late 80s
but I actually didn't know she was still an active performer. I thought she'd retired or gone into producing or something.
I came across this interesting article as well.

I didn't know she went to a fundamentalist church. As I recall from the late 80s, her music struck me as fairly left-wing.

I thought she was left-leaning

19. I guess it's time for Mike Malloy to stop playing her music in bumpers
see my reply 18.
Shocked duped EVERYONE even Malloy and Goodman

22. "thought she was left-leaning..."
Me, too.
She spent a lot of time and energy on the Occupy Wall Street Movement.
This seems at odds with where her politics usually are.

16. Not necessarily RW, but definitely NJ
She was big in Occupy LA apparently. And she's always been a big anarcho-socialist. But apparently since she found Jesus she's also turned into a big homophobe.
Some things I'm reading make it sound like she may be having mental health issues also. Either way, I'm, um, shocked, by this.
Kudos to the club owner for denouncing her, apologizing and offering refunds.

66. I wonder how soon George Takei will have a response to this.
Takei's at his best at these moments.
Something like this?

Oh noes, the alt music LGBQTZZY hipster crowd will never be the same. :whatever:
-
Who?
-
Well, I had to read the links after seeing her picture to figure out whether she was a she, a he or an it. Maybe she's none of the above.
-
Never heard of her.
I have a hunch the venues that cancelled her are about the size of my family room.
-
The real Michelle Shocked was, obviously, replaced by a BushCo clone. The real one is probably being held in a Dulce underground base.
-
I looked her up... my outtie became an innie in fear.

And Rove cackles with evil laughter at the successful test of the latest remote mind-control device.
The next test is to see if he can use it to get Omaha Steve to say, "I love physical labor and hate jobs where you just sit on your ass and draw a big check."
-
I recall the name from the 80s but couldn't tell you a damn thing she ever sang.
I looked her up on wiki and she sounds like she is a total nutjob.
-
I remember she had a video I liked on MTV back in the day when I watched such things. I bought her CD and found it pretty much unlistenable.
-
Who?
Don't have a clue. :???:

I'll have to check out her music. :-)

From what I can tell from youtube, she is a folk singer. Not awful, some of her older stuff seems decent enough.

'Nuff said.

But, you picked up a lovely drink coaster, or a pseudo-clay pigeon!

We used to like "Hootenanny", but there were only three channels on the TV.
The best movie every made about folk singers is "A Mighty Wind". Hilarious.

I remember those days. If the wind blew just right we could sometimes get a very snowy fourth channel.

I know what you mean. When I watched the first moon landing it was snowing on the moon.
That sounds like something Maxine Waters would say. :-)
