1. I am reminded of this advice

"Turn the other cheek"

and

"He who is without sin, let them cast the first stone"

If you leave DU we will miss you folks.

The only way a DUmmy would turn the other cheek is if he is giving his boy friend easier access.

5. Sorry, but I don't see anti-catholic bigotry.

I see some harsh questions being asked. But guess what? Humility and facts beat heated questions any day. There is a new Pope, my hope is that he become a great and transformative Pope.

I honestly don't understand how one can be a Catholic and be a liberal.
How can you be a worshiper of God and at the same time subscribe to an ideology where the government is your god?

Practicing Catholics? Hardly.

However, when I was a Mormon missionary - lo, in my youthful days of yore - I would run into folks who, when we asked if they were interested in hearing about our religion, claimed to be Catholic, and yet couldn't tell you where the local parish was, who was the priest at that parish (we not only knew the man, we were on good relations with him, as we did community service at the food bank with him every week) or anything which a practicing catholic would know.

I'm sure there's a special place set aside in hell for folks who claim to be members of the body of Christ solely to avoid having to defend your sins.

"Sorry, but I don't see anti-catholic bigotry."

You can mark that one down alongside all the other great, "Whaaa...where?" post along with-

"What Christian bashing?"

"No one here celebrates when a Conservative dies."

"Who's saying America is a bad country?"

"Don't be silly, nobody at DU is pro-abortion."

"No one wants to take your guns away."

"I see very little hate here."

 :whatever:

I don't see the DUmp as anti-Catholic.

Democrats hate all Christian faiths and Jews equally.

They love muzzies and all other breeds of heathen.

Why just Catholics. :???:

They're the "religion de jour" on the hate list this week because Pope Francis the First is getting more TV air time than Pope Barry the Idiot is.

To me, it tracks very closely with Churchill's: "Those that are not liberal as a youth, have no heart.  Those that are not Conservative as an adult, have no brain."  For (D)Ummies, the Catholic teachings of charity and sacrifice never mature from the infantile "unicorns and skittles for all" into an adult worldview that sees the world as it really is.

The childlike mentality simply cannot grasp or, refuses to grasp, the concept of self-reliance and the proven fact that government can become destructive*.  The whole problem of Marxist Socialism taking root within the Catholic Church preys on these infantile people, particularly in Latin America.

* - Unless run by Rethuglicans.  Then, they grasp it easily.

Yeah, who didn't see that coming. The "tolerant" and "open-minded" will not accept dissent, Proles!

On social issues such as abortion and gay marriage, the Church is clear. On other "life" issues, such as capital punishment, there's definitely some room for both sides.

Where I can see a liberal mindset is the (mistaken, in this Catholic's opinion) view that it is the government's responsibility to follow Jesus' command to do for the least among us. Many Catholics feel that it is the government's responsibility to provide for the poor--not just us as individuals.

Similarly, many good, upstanding Catholics take a much more "tolerant" approach to immigration than traditional conservatives.

I struggle with this too.
