What ever your stance on gay marriage is, this is ridiculous and discriminatory towards non-gays.

Well now we know which church isn't preaching the Gospel.

Damn the RAW-lee liberals have invaded another town. They've already captured Asheville and Boone. Who's next, High Point.....Mayberry?

I think you've got the order of collapse backwards. It was Asheville and Boone first, then Charlotte and they're working on Raleigh

I could be wrong but Raleigh is the college town I first encountered extreme liberals in and then Asheville.

And this is the plan for the whole country! As a Baptist by birth with a Catholic mother that has gone Methodist since the "scandal", I intend to ask my minister his council's thoughts about this. I may become a Mormon.

The statement added, “Because the United Methodist Church prohibits its pastors from conducting same-sex weddings, excluding gay and lesbian couples from the holy sacrament of marriage, the Leadership Council has asked the pastor to refrain from conducting wedding ceremonies in our sanctuary for straight couples, until the denomination lifts its ban for same-sex couples.”

Is the Leadership Council made up of church members?  It sounds like the members disagree with the tenets of the church and are imposing their will on the pastor.  Maybe they need to leave the church and find one that preaches to their beliefs, something like that Unitarian BS church.

Wait I found a verse to defend them.
Quote
Rom 1:25 (KJV)  Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

Rom 1:26  For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

Rom 1:27  And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

Rom 1:28  And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

Rom 1:29  Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

Rom 1:30  Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

Rom 1:31  Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

Rom 1:32  Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Whoops... wrong verses.
