House Republicans Vote Down Increase In Minimum Wage
By Annie-Rose Strasser on Mar 15, 2013 at 4:22 pm
House Republicans on Friday unanimously voted down a bill that would have raised the minimum wage. Six Democrats joined them in defeating the effort.
The vote came after a surprise move by Democrats, who tacked onto a jobs training program bill an amendment that would have brought the national $7.25 minimum wage to $10.10 by 2015. But Republicans managed to defeat the effort while approving the bill overall.
A few weeks back, House Minority Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) came out in support raising minimum wage, responding President Obama’s State of the Union call for a wage increase. Pelosi’s effort, and the effort proposed Friday, would actually bring the minimum wage up higher than Obama’s suggestion of $9.
If the minimum wage were brought up to $10.10 an hour, it would not be a revolutionary hike; rather, it would be indexed to inflation and consistent with historical borrowing power. Had the minimum wage been indexed to inflation in 1968, it would be $10.40.

Sorry DUmmies no raise for you.
I would advise you to actually show up to work on time, be sober and actually do your job and move up on the pay scale, but it would be wasted text, because none of you loons want to have to do anything to get more, hell you don't want to work to get the min wage you get now.

7. They would like to see an END to the minimum wage
Slave labor.
No slave labor is when you keep taking more and more money from those of us who work in order to give to those who don't work.

How many "own it" threads have we seen where primitives wail over cost increases?
The dog chases it's own tail. :banghead:

DUmmies need to understand that if their minimum wage goes up, the price of weed will just rise by the same amount.
They'll never get ahead.
-
Sure, go ahead and raise it. But keep in mind that your $3.00 hamburger will now cost you $5.50.
See how that works?

It doesn't quite work that way, though.
I looked for something the other day, and couldn't find it; a piece I wrote late in the administration of George Bush, when the primitives were complaining about inflation.
Apparently during the Reagan-Bush-Gingrich-Bush prosperity of nearly thirty years, the prices of groceries had tripled, and the primitives were whining about that.
I did some research, and discovered that during the same years, the price of marijuana had increased more than 16 times, and one never heard the primitives whine about that.
This sixteen-fold increase, despite that the risks of selling and using marijuana had decreased, and that the supply had increased.
Talk about windfall profits.

Well, Hell, I just now found it. It was in General Discussion, not the DUmpster.

The fallacy in comparing the differentials in minimum wage and weed price is that few DUmmies work.
A more appropriate comparison is between the price of weed (and, for DUmmy Taverner, heroin) and the rise in Social Security disability payments.
Another would be the price of weed vs. the street dollar value of a month's food stamps.

Wouldn't it be cheaper and safer to just buy a couple cases of beer? :???:
I can't fathom their logic in this regard.

Well Frank... back when I was in jr high school they called them nickel and dime bags. 5 bucks and 10 bucks. An ounce cost 40 bucks if I recall correctly. So that means a dime bag was 1/4 ounce and a nickel bag was 1/8. Dunno what it is now but I bet it is waaaay more expensive than that.
And I bet the dummies pay it.

Gee, and I'll bet it tastes better, too!!

Not to mention Cheetos and Pepsi.

Why do DUmmies hate young people?

My niece just got a minimum wage job and is not worried about raising that wage. She is polishing up her resume for an even better paying job. It's sad that someone from another country understands the American Dream better than any of these DUmmies.

They complain about the price of everything... all the time. Yet they want an increase in taxes and wages which does nothing but increase prices. It's ****ing ECON 101.

You are expecting them to possess brains. If they actually had brains, they wouldn't be DUmmies.

Is there even one rational business person on that board. Let one of those cretins open a business, lets say a diner and proclaim that they will pay all of their workers a "living wage". If that business is in Boston, they will be paying the fry cook 18 bucks an hour the waitress 13.50 and the dishwasher at least 10. A plate of french toast will cost 20 bucks. If looking at empty booths and tables for 4 weeks does not teach them a lesson, I do not know what will.

Naw Doc... they will just complain they couldn't get their message out. Kinda like they do now when they lose elections that weren't stolen by KKK Rove.
