I read books about the Argentine Dirty War. It got worldwide support because of its anti-Peronist stance. Even the Soviet Union supported them as they sided with them during the Falkland War. France was involved in consulting with the Argentina Military Junta as they were fighting in the Algerian War of Independence, which is very bloody with about a million killed. The Dirty War claimed 30,000 lives. For comparison, the Nazis claimed 20 million, Soviet Union claimed 60 million, while Khmer Rouge killed 3 million.
