Chelsea Clinton Buys A $10.5 Million Apartment On Madison Square Park
Former first daughter Chelsea Clinton and her husband have purchased an apartment at The Whitman across from Madison Square Park for $10.5 million, the New York Post reported.
The deal for the 5,000-square-foot apartment, located at 21 East 26th St, closed last month, sources told the Post.
The apartment has four bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms, and the living room boasts sweeping views of the park. Elliman’s Melanie Lazenby – who was profiled last year in "The Real Deal" – and Dina Lewis had the listing.
The five-story Whitman has one apartment per floor and a key-locked elevator.

I doubt that anyone expected them to live in a two bedroom fixer-upper in the Bronx or Brooklyn..
She and her husband are both well-educated/employed and can probably well afford the place.
Do I think it's super expensive? Hell yes!, but NYC has ridiculously high prices for city-living
That's exactly how the DUmp reacted to W's daughters. Isn't it?

How does a "hedge fund" work?
Should hedge funds be illegal?
Most of the arguments that you hear, mostly from people making money off of hedge funds, say they are a vital part of the markets operation. But are they really?
In the case of Goldman Sachs, they permitted John Paulson to pick over the worst mortgages, those behind in payments and questionable for the future, and put them in a basket to sell to unsuspecting buyers around the world. Of course, they had to get them rated AAA before they sold them. That was the first step in the fraudulent activity.
The experts say they then bet against those same "baskets" that they were selling to the unsuspecting buyers. How did they bet against them?? Is that why they bought insurance from AIG? How did that work?
At the least, it is very unethical, in my opinion. At the worst, it is fraud. But from the beginning, when the bad mortgages are chosen, there is the intent to deceive. That is the entire purpose of hedging on the bet. How easy is it to offer a mortgage to an unemployed person if you know you are going to sell that mortgage to someone else?
Of course, Goldman Sachs was not the only one doing it. There were probably four or five banks that were more involved than Goldman. It is a widespread scandal. It continues as we speak. It did not end with the collapse in 2008.
In fact, Goldman Sachs just reported a record quarter for profits. They are handing out huge bonuses once again. Some might call that "hush" money? If your employer gives you a million-dollar bonus, how likely are you to spill the beans? And what is the capital gains tax on these "bonuses"? What should be the capital gains tax on these profits?
What type of "reform" can we expect from the White House and the Congress? Will the taxpayers still be vulnerable after reform is passed? This is a test for the Democratic Party. We know where the Republicans stand.

It's worth $10.5 million. Why? Because there's some idiot out there willing to pay it.
Then again, I wouldn't worry too much--it's his side of the family that has the big bucks, not her so much, although having her last name pretty much ensures she'll have no-show, no-work mid six-figure income (or higher) for the rest of her life.

Oh how I rue the day I bought my home. I bought on what I could afford with out giving thought to the future. Should have bought on need at the time. Two of us, livingroom, kitchen big kitchen, bedroom with private bath, laundry room, 1/2 bath. All we needed at that time and all we need today.
To go back in time I would have bought half the home we did. Too big for just us two plus with 2 extra bedrooms and a family room, for 15 years we had family moving in and out one adult stayed 14 years !!
All these years we gave up our privacy to family on both sides moving in and out. Result is 1/3 of our home is now used for storage, Over night visitors best bring a sleeping bag and sleep on the carpet.
Cost to heat and cool unused rooms is huge, lots of problems that if we down sized to smaller quarters would solve.
Reason I have been looking into the micro homes. I would give up a second bedroom for a wrap around porch or a half bath for a full cellar to turn into storage.
To each their own for us average people, higher low class those making under $60,000 a year for two.
Things were different in the past when I needed a home for 2 boys and two girls. We needed lots of room but today with no one but Hubby and I, heck we could live most well in an Airstream and if we did not like the neighbors, we could move on.

Only if it is a republican that has more money than you.
Lots of funny back and forth between DUmmies that have been programmed to hate the rich slugging it out with DUmmies that have been programmed to instinctively defend any democrat.
The consensus seems to be that Chelsea could have a $10.5 million apartment with a car elevator and a dancing horse and it would be Kool and the Gang with the DUmmies.
