The bad side of Obamacare
I'm one of the folks whose insurance premiums doubled this year due to "Obamacare".
I don't mind at all paying more for my insurance so that more people can be covered. Not at all. And the really cool things that I will get because of Obamacare...free preventative care, etc.
Except. I won't.
Got a letter from my insurance company today explaining the increase in premiums and the fact that the increases were directly due to The Affordable Care Act.
However, we are the folks whose premiums were allowed to be doubled but the insurance company was allowed to "Grandfather" us in to not giving us the benefits that the Affordable Care Act provided.
So, I see two really bad things that were allowed to happen.
1. There should have been caps on how much the insurance company could raise rates
2. No exclusions should have been made available to the insurance company to be able to deny the benefits that you are going to pay for but not have access to.
As a dyed-in-the-wool liberal, yeah it really pisses me off but it isn't going to change the way that I vote, however, I see this as a way that Obamacare can come to mean really bad things to some folks....especially the independents.

3. The healthcare situation is getting really ugly!
This has me really worried.
I try not to think about it too much, but it creeps up on me every damm day anyway.
I still try to smile, laugh, and have fun even though the worry sits on me all the time.
I guess it's either that or just die or something.

7. It is.
There is a "figure" on my insurance card that I don't understand. It has never been there before and is tucked in the co-pays and coinsurance section. It says "Plan Code" and 650/150. I have absolutely no idea what that is but I imagine it is going to be something extra that we are going to have to pay.
There is also no "maximum out of pocket" listed on our cards. I haven't had a chance to completely go through it. I put it down after I learned we are paying for something we aren't going to get to use.
Here is the exact wording:
"BCBS believes this plan is a "grandfathered health plan" under the Affordable Care Act. As permitted by the Act, a grandfathered health plan can preserve certain basic health coverage already in effect when that law was enacted. Being a grandfathered health plan means that your plan will not include certain consumer protections of the Affordable Care Act that apply to other plans, for example, the requirement for the provisions of preventative health services without any cost sharing. However, the grandfathered health plans must comply with the elimination of lifetime limits on benefits".
Yeah, that sucks.

and insurance companies deny coverage all the time. I think it is something that would have happened to you even without the ACA.

or it will prove to be quite damaging to Democrats. Once common people see they are forced to pay a hefty amount and a new big bill every month, there will be hell to pay. I'm hoping the Dems realize this in time and make major adjustments to it before it kicks in full bore. Otherwise, oh boy, prepare for a GOP election landslide IMHO, and then the whole thing will be repealed.

14. I think
"Got a letter from my insurance company today explaining the increase in premiums and the fact that the increases were directly due to The Affordable Care Act."
...your insurance company is lying to you.
Sec. Kathleen Sebelius
Holding Insurance Companies Accountable for High Premium Increases
The Affordable Care Act prohibits some of the worst insurance industry practices that have kept affordable health coverage out of reach for millions of Americans. It provides families and individuals with new protections against discriminatory rates due to pre-existing conditions, holds insurance companies accountable for how they spend your premium dollars, and prevents insurance companies from raising your insurance premium rates without accountability or transparency.
For more than a decade before the Affordable Care Act health insurance premiums had risen rapidly, straining the pocketbooks of American families and businesses. Oftentimes, insurance companies were able to raise rates without explanation to consumers or public justification of their actions.
The Affordable Care Act brought an unprecedented level of scrutiny and transparency to health insurance rate increases by requiring insurance companies in every state to publicly justify their actions if they want to raise rates by 10% or more. Insurance companies are required to provide easy to understand information to their customers about their reasons for significant rate increases, and any unreasonable rate increases are posted online.
And it's working.
A new report released today shows that the health care law is helping to moderate premium hikes. Since this rule was implemented, the number of requests for insurance premium increases of 10% or more has dropped dramatically, from 75% to 14%. The average premium increase for all rates in 2012 was 30% below what it was in 2010. And available data suggest that this slowdown in rate increases has continued into 2013.

Well, it passed so now they're finding out what's in it.
I think DUmmy Horse with no Brain should check through all those tens of thousands of pages and see if the muslim's plan will pay retroactively for dick inspections.
She could be an instant millionaire.
(Folks who haven't been here awhile may not be aware of her claimed profession.)
(Working out of a single-wide trailer, in a dusty, crappy Texas trailer park, she claims to have checked out over ten thousand dicks.)
(The shocker, actually a likely lie, is that she has a BCBS policy.)

I think the best part of the next few years will be the wailing and gnashing of teeth about how we "didn't give it a fair chance!" and "we were so close!" after the foolishness gets repealed.

I don't mind at all paying more for my insurance so that more people can be covered.
You lie. :bird:
All you did the rest of the comment, was piss and moan over it.

This sentence stunned me,
I don't mind at all paying more for my insurance so that more people can be covered. Not at all. And the really cool things that I will get because of Obamacare...free preventative care,
how in the hell would something be free if you are paying more for it?
I knew DUmmies, especially Horse with no brain are stupid, but this really takes the biscuit, as my facebook friend from Wales would say. :-)
-
I am willing to do my own surgery with a rusty spoon if it means that piece of shit ACA these collectivist cretins screamed and begged for causes them to start dying off. I am willing to suffer just to hear the DUmmies beg for obamacare to be taken away.
And mark my word, DUmbasses, you will be screaming the loudest for that cup to be removed from your lips. Mark these words as well - I am laughing at you because I knew what was coming and I planned accordingly. You retards are so screwed and you have no idea how much you did it to yourselves.

41. Comprehension is a great thing
I don't care that my rates went up. I don't MIND paying more so others can have insurance. I have worked in healthcare for more than 25 years. I KNOW that everything gets paid for one way or the other and that nothing is free. What I do mind is being excluded from what others are getting.
Now wait a minute I thought liberals wanted all this free stuff not for themselves, but for the poor downtrodden.
Looks like Horsey just admitted to what we have all claimed for years that they really just want the free stuff for themselves.
This is a good lesson in socialism, if you are a producer you get the pleasure of paying for things that you will never benefit from. You pay for other people to see the doctor, then when it's your turn to see the doctor, you get to pay your own way. None of these fools will ever grasp that concept, and are surprised every time it happens under the programs they wanted so badly. They tell us to pay our fair share, but howl when they have to pay theirs.

Comprehension? Um, no.
You won't comprehend until 2017 when Obamacare is in full force. Your insurance company will have gone belly up, you'll be paying 20k a year for Obama's smallest plan, the bronze one, because you won't be able to afford the Gold one.
And you'll still be excluded from whatever your bitching about now. :)

Your misery gives me great pleasure DUmbass. :cheersmate: :yahoo:

The only silver lining to the biggest tax hike in history AKA the Affordable Care Act is that the useful idiots will be the hardest hit (like always).

Maybe Obama bought all those bullets to use on the DUmmies when they revolt.
Can't wait to see how the primitives respond when they hear their vet bills are going up to pay for Obamacare.

You know, I went over to do an autopsy on the now-dead campfire.
It's really odd; the sleazebag Ms. Ed deleted all of her comments, excepting one that was hidden by a jury.
One wonders what's up with that, and sees a problem if Skins allows it to continue, this ability for a primitive to discard his posts.
I think my fellow alum needs to tweak DU3 again, and making it so only he, Lord Marblehead EarlG, and the elusive enigmatic Elad can delete posts.

It IS going to be repealed. You people ARE going to have to crawl back under your hidey holes, and there WILL be a landslide win for a "Repuke" who will guide this country back to salvation. Sadly, it will most likely take more than 8 years for that to happen.

He's afraid to do that because self-deletion is a favorite tactic of the crazy bald dwarf.
Whenever someone calls her on something really embarrassingly stupid, she goes back and covers her tracks.
She has already stopped her cash donations to the DUmp.
If he pisses her off, she may withhold content.
Then who would report SoCal grassfires and 4.0 earthquakes off the northern coast of Borneo?

Well, my primary, paramount, concern, as you can very well guess, is for the good name and well-being of my fellow alum Skins.
The primitives don't care about him; the primitives care only about their own selves, their own selfish whims.
Maybe a primitive might post something that Skins thinks should stay there--for whatever reason--but the primitive deletes it.
So I think my fellow alum should fine-tune DU3 yet again, so that only he, Lord Marblehead, and Elad can delete posts, so that what he wants there, stays there.
Remember the intellectual and social retardation of the primitives; they can't be trusted to use their own judgement and discretion, because they have none. They need iron-fisted control, to make Skins's island work.
-

All true, but your fellow alum signalled that he cares even less for the DUmmies and the DUmp when he introduced the DUmmy-administered format of DU3.
The inmates run the asylum, with their mole-infested MIRT liquidation squads and their mole-infested "juries".
It's sort of shocking that either Lord Marblehead or the elusive, enigmatic Elad, or both, weren't laid off. There's really nothing for them to do.
Nutcase nadin is way more critical to the DUmp's success than either of Skimmer's numbskulled flunkies.
