New Pope Elected: Centuries Of Make-Believe (Religion) Reaffirmed For The Masses

And, they all get to wear party dresses!

I understand Tweety has a raging boner on right now on MSNBC.

"Imagine no religion." - John Lennon

Wait did they elect 0bama pope? Why else would Tweety have a boner?

1. My goodness! That's a lot of hate in such a short post.

I am not a Catholic, and I find your post offensive.

Who is it that has a hard over this issue? I don't think Tweetie is alone.

Must be your first day at DU since you don't recognize this kind of stuff at DU.

3. All over DU...

people are stopping to say how they don't care and express their hatred of Catholics.
(No not the Church, there are several quite specific ones who make it clear they mean all Catholics)

Hate is progressive

Seriously do you really expect anything different at DU when it comes to religion?
Unless it is Islam religion is mocked constantly at DUmmyland.

29. What hate?

I don't see any hate. I see an opinion.

If I said gays shouldn't be able to marry each other is that just an opinion?
You would scream that it is hate speech.

REASON FOR ALERT:

This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate. (See <a href="http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=aboutus#communitystandards" target="_blank">Community Standards[/url].)

ALERTER'S COMMENTS:

I\'m an atheist, but I don\'t think this is the time to call religion \"make believe.\" We have many DUers who are Catholic, and we should not be making them feel unwelcome.

You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Wed Mar 13, 2013, 11:48 AM, and the Jury voted 2-4 to LEAVE IT.

Juror #1 voted to HIDE IT and said: I'm not Catholic, but let's be respectful, folks.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: While the post is harsh, it is opinion.
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: The post seems to refer to all religion as make-believe, not just Catholicism. This is just one post, hopefully it won't put someone off the whole site. Sorry, if it were hateful I would hide it, but as it is, it is just sort of funny.
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: I am Catholic, and I am more critical of my church than most non Catholics. The only ones on D.U. who have the poweer to make me feel unwelcome here are the admins by saying "get out". You can only feel unwelcome if you give haters free rent in your head.
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: Poster has a right to his/her opinion even if some don't like it. How about debating whether religion is make-believe or not instead of being a over-sensitive crybaby?
Juror #6 voted to HIDE IT and said: This is both rude and insensitive. Vote to hide.

Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

It actually surprises me that so many of the DUmmies found fault with the OP.
Considering they all post on DU you would think they would know how DU feels about religion.
The Bible is just a bunch of goofy stories, but spirit guides and healing white light is science man.

Lots of infighting on the thread I am sure it will get locked.

Leave it to DUmmy socialists to bring hate into religious news like this. No one was killed. There was a peaceful transition of power. No muslims suicide bombed when their faction lost.

I figure since I am not a Catholic I have no say in the matter, but from what I have been hearing, this new pope may be good for the church.

He is very socially conservative as most priests are.He has said some things about Capitalism that give some folks pause. But beside that from what I have read about The Holy Father he is a very humble, decent man of the people with a very firm grasp on Church teaching as he is a Jesuit. Which is making some of the more traditional folks in our Church very nervous.

Why would that make a traditional Catholic nervous?

Some of the more radical orders of Jesuits  practice what is called liberation theology. From what I have read about The Holy Father he wasn't part of that order and even chastised the more radical. Its a concern but by no means the end of the world. He is very traditional on social issues.

I personally wanted Cardinal Dolan because he's so personable, but from everything I've read about the new Pope I'm thrilled.

Hmmmmm, are the leftist politicians in the US going to alienate a growing Hispanic population in the US by dissing a Pope who's Hispanic?

New Pope: No Communion for Pro-Abortion Politicians

Quote
In the Aparecida Document, a document that represents a joint statement by Latin American church leaders but presented by Francis in 2007, the leaders stated, “we should commit ourselves to ‘eucharistic coherence,’ that is, we should be conscious that people cannot receive holy communion and at the same time act or speak against the commandments, in particular when abortions, euthanasia, and other serious crimes against life and family are facilitated. This responsibility applies particularly to legislators, governors, and health professionals.”

What a quandry the left is going to be in, they "don't got no" "eyetalian" or "urpean" Pope they can diss, Hispanics all over the America's are celebrating, they will side with the Pope and Church on social issues, so expect leftist politican's to start holding back on opening their big mouths on issues such as abortion and gay marriage so as not to alienate a growing Hispanic population in the US.

Massa Barry couldn't find someone of higher caliber than that, to lead the American delegation?

According to the Journal, Biden is "the highest-ranking Catholic" in the United States government.

As far as Barack Obama is aware, I guess the answer is 'no'.

Well, to spare the rest of us--both Catholic and non-Catholic Americans--embarrassment, I guess for me, the U.S. ambassador to Italy, whoever that is, would be better, even if not high-ranking.  Surely whoever the ambassador is, he's not dumber and goofier than Joe.

Apparently the current ambassador is the twin brother of the first wife of John Kerry, and was Kerry's roommate in college.

Despite that, I stand by what I said.  He's better than the goof in the vice president's job.

The hate bus is never late to the DUmp. I don't like some things that have gone on in the church but I'm not going to hate the whole religion because of it. They have every right to choose who they want to lead them. The Dummies are pissed that they didn't find someone that would say yes to all they love is the problem.
