The undemocratic nature of US Congress is at the heart of a lot of the problems we face.
In the senate, each state gets two votes, which means that a person living in Wyoming has about 60 times as much influence as a person living in California. The overall effect of this is to overrepresent rural conservative states, and to underrepresent blue states like California.

In theory, the house should be fairer, but in practice, it is even worse, because of gerrymandering. And right now, because the GOP controlled most state governments in 2010, the house is also well to the right of the electorate.

This is a large reason that policies that are extremely popular with the public can't make it through congress. For example:
--cuts to social programs are very unpopular, and higher taxes on the wealthy, and more spending on infrastructure and education are popular, yet all the talk is about austerity and deficit control.
--all items of Obama's gun control agenda poll comfortably over 50%, but even things like the high-capacity magazine ban might not make it through congress, not to mention the assault weapons ban which the pundits are all declaring dead.
--etc.

Yes, special interest politics and corporate spending have a lot to do with it, but the structural issues with congress are a big part also.

I don't know what can be done about this. For the house, we can try to win more state elections and get more favorable districts drawn next time. One problem there is that big money is often even more influential at the state level than the national level, because big out of state money can overwhelm local grassroots efforts.

But changing the senate requires a drastic change to the constitution.

1. If they are all anti-gun, the Mayors against guns will finance them to victory.

Behooves the democratic party to have all the states that are important have anti-gun
candidates.

One dollar more.

You make idiots look sharp.

6. Our elections are corrupt and undemocratic, that's why we have that Congress.

Is there not an on-going, full-tilt effort of some decades now to prevent the full implementation of the voting rights act? Are they not right now trying to prevent the more liberal sectors of society from being ABLE to vote?

And it's all about the money. We have a plutocracy, which has always been the basis of our class system here, and the problem is that having money does not, in fact, correlate with being smart or mature, so the place has always been badly run, the corruption in our defense business, for example, pre-dates the Revolution; and we have gotten away with it because this was such a rich place when we took it from the indigenous people here.

Okay, you still look like an idiot.

Any doubt that they would support a dictator who promised them a few bread crumbs?

Ah, but living hand-to-mouth does correlate.  Whatever.   :loser:

Given the choice between the wealthy running the show or little poor tyrants like you primitives, I'll take the rich.

You mean the Act championed by Republicans and filibustered by KKK (D) senators?  No, cupcake, it has been fully implemented.

Does it take a lot of practice to be this stupid or does it come natural?

What was it, when the (D)estruct-o-crats were in the majority, Slappy?   :hammer:

Now I'm just an Ogre, but aren't we a "representative" Republic?

That might explain to the DUmmy why we aren't democratic, or are we only democratic when their side controls the House and Senate?

But that undemocratic Senate rubber stamps the jug-eared muslim's agenda.

Just reading four or five lines, this DUmmie is reading from some Democrat policy guy who wants to rip up the Constitution.

I had the misfortune of catching about 5 minutes of that guy on the Charlie Rose show about a month ago.

A domestic enemy of the constitution standing out in a field in a thunderstorm waving a straightened metal coat hangar about in the air.  He'll get what he wants, eventually.  Then his friends will all whine about it.

No way you can't tell me that these DUches would not have had the local gestapo or NVDK phone number known by memory in Germany of the USSR. They look in the mirror and blame their views on others. The conspiracy theories they come up with are from small minds that would actually do their claims.

I think we all know I am no government nanny stater but the DUmp should be shut down for mental health reasons. Letting these serious ill people think they have supporters...no believers in their bizarre viewpoints is. IMHO, criminal. The DUmp fits all the classic points of a cult.

And which party is it that is against voter ID laws? I'll give you a hint, it is the party that participates in the most voter fraud.
