Ladies, I need your opinion on this little folding table. The wife(WE) needs a couple these or something like this when her ever growing extended family shows up for holiday meals. I like the look and simplicity but I will bow to your opinions.

If opinions are favorable, I might find time to make a couple and finish them by July forth.

I like them, and I would LOVE to have one myself. A heck of a lot more classy than the standard plastic folding table. The one thing that concerns me are the legs. They look like they would be wobbly, but maybe it's just the picture.

You have a point, one I hadn't thought of....hmmmmm

You could probably build the legs stronger I bet.

Reminds me of one I made for my wife for folding clothes. Just a utility table. I used a foam core slab door for the top, and sturdier legs that could screw into wood blocks at the corners.

I want something that folds for storage.
I'm still thinking.

How many people all together do you need to seat and how much room do you have for dining?

Got plenty of room. Have 2 large tables that can expand to sit 10 each. One kitchen table that will sit 6 and several end tables and coffee tables for others.
Just want to get things (glasses and such) off the furniture.

The old time TV dinner folding tables come to mind. We looked all over for them made of wood. Utility and use is major to me the dining room drop leaf tables are my favorite, Space savers everywhere in the house.
Of all things we found a set of 4 TV folding tables with stand to store them for $40.00 at Walmart. Some kind to wood material stained a Cherry color.
Still looking for the dining room drop leaf at the thrift stores. My table is round with 2 leaves that need to be stored. I hate it, as we only dine at the table on Hollidays and with a drop leaf we can gain 24 extra inches in the dinning room. 2 feet added to any room makes a difference.
I do know these scavengers that seek out old time travel trailers to cannibalise the interior. This man rented a very small apartment, he bought for $700.00 a falling apart trailer, he gutted the place, sold the rest for scrap.
His living room he placed the front seating area a banquette of sorts seated 6 with a drop down table to become a good size bed. Lots of storage under the seats. The cabinets he turned into against the wall storage spaces and book shelves. He made his living as a carpenter so he rounded all corners off in his small space, and everything just seemed to flow together.
Bathroom he had the tub removed with the permission of the land lord and installed a big shower.
Kitchen was very small however he installed drop leaf or pull outs anywhere there was a square inch of unused space.
Best part of this he made sure when he moved most of this could be removed [except for the shower ] to
his next mini Pad.
New field carpenters going into, the mini homes that look bigger then they are, less work to maintain and give all that one needs in a 300 SF area or less. Each inch of space has a home for something, no empty space, no clutter, all is clean and calm, perfect Zen.

That's a really neat wooden table, Johnny. I'll take 2 and send you my address, I'm just over the mountains from you! :-)
I have a couple of the heavy duty molded plastic top with aluminum tube legs that I found at Walmart. They are nice and sturdy, but have to be covered with a tablecloth to look decent. I also have two of the larger size card tables that I use either individually for 4 at each, or put together for 6. They have nice tops which are great for cards but not for a sit down dinner, so I use tablecloths. I have pretty tablecloths for the holidays, but I usually end up buying those colored plastic throwaways any other time. They are ok, cause I'm usually setting them up outside.
I would love to have pretty wood ones like those and use nice placemats instead. I like the way wood looks even for a formal table with flowers and candles.
FWIW.... don't know what your wife uses for plates when she has a crowd, but I hate paper dinner plates. I'm always afraid someone's food is going to end up on the floor. I found hard plastic plates - they are 9-10" at KMart for $1 each. They always come in white, and have at least 2 solid colors that change seasonally. I bought all white ones, so I can mix them with any color scheme I happen to be using. They do great in the dishwasher, and even though I've used them several times, they still look new, so apparently they don't scratch up much. I use the colored heavy plastic utensils, cups and dessert plates/bowls from Dollar Tree with them, and so far, knock on wood.... no one's food has ended up on the floor.
