Bloomberg: NYC's shelters overcrowded because law "forces them to give a bed to anyone, even rich"
Bloomberg blames NYC's overcrowded homeless shelters on city law

Mayor Bloomberg today blamed New York’s overcrowded homeless shelters on a law that forces the city to provide a bed to anyone who asks -- even if they’re rich.
"You can arrive in your private jet at Kennedy Airport, take a private limousine and go straight to the shelter system, walk in the door and we've got to give you shelter. That's what the law is. I didn't write the law,†he said on his weekly WOR radio show.
The comments came the week that the Coalition for the Homeless issued a report saying that the city’s homeless population exploded in the past year.
“It’s pretty ludicrous to claim that there are people flying in private jets and taking private limos to the shelter system,†said Patrick Markee of the coalition. “He didn’t seem to want to take responsibility for the fact that there are more than 50,000 people sleeping in city shelters, including 21,000 children.â€

Meanwhile, in Bloomberg's fair city where he funnels city taxes to his developer & real estate buddies:
Dozens of Chinatown tenants were evacuated Thursday from a single-room-occupancy building on the Bowery notorious for its makeshift cubicle dwellings.
Officials said they issued a vacate order for the top floor of the four-story building after firefighters responded to a complaint about living conditions at 81 Bowery.
The action left tenants homeless and concerned — and not for the first time. The building was evacuated in 2008 under similar circumstances and nine months passed before its inhabitants could return.
Firefighters and Buildings Department inspectors found “numerous life hazards†Thursday amid rows of rooms separated by thin partitions — many without ceilings, a Fire Department spokesman said.
“There were about 40 separate rooms with 40 people,†said the spokesman, citing “possible tampering with gas and pipes†and blocked exits and sprinklers.

Wasn't Bloomberg a hero a few days ago for his help to get a major moonbat to run for Jesse Jackass JR's seat?

He was but that was a few days ago. The dummies are like 4 yr olds... with the temperament and attention span to match. :cheersmate:

I would love to know who in the world would fly in on a private jet, then go to a homeless shelter.
I can almost guarantee no one.

Even the homeless don't want to go to the homeless shelters.

Bloomberg is a lot of hateful things, but stupid isn't one of them. In this case his critics are being really stupid.
Bloomberg is using a very, very common rhetorical device called hyperbole. He is making his point by constructing a comically overblown exaggeration.
Of course no one flies in on a private jet and goes to a homeless shelter. That isn't what he means. What he's saying is that the city's law as currently written would allow that to happen, so the law allows any bum or drunk to show up at a homeless shelter and be accepted, whether he has another place to stay or not.
So lots of beds in shelters may be occupied by people who don't necessarily have to be there.
The DUmp already has that stupid "sarcasm' thing because they're too stupid to understand sarcasm. I guess they need a "hyperbole" icon as well.

The article said that there has been a 20% increase. I wonder if it has anything to do with Sandy and people who's homes were destroyed.

Because crime is still down under him, he pretty much retained the same tactics that Giuliani used to make NYC 1 of the safest cities in the world. I despise Bloomberg but I admit it's nice going into NYC and not worry about getting hit over the head. It's going to be interesting to see what happens when a Democrat wins, if they win the Mayoral race, I'm expecting crime to go up if a Democrat wins.

I imagine if a democrat becomes the next mayor the criminals will have their rights protected and the innocents will once again have no rights. Just like in any city run by the dems.

Violent crime may be down, but I'm sure the food police are busy counting how much salt is in your food and measuring the size of your soda.

First I've heard of that.
As the High School bus driver was rabidly anti gun, picking a gun manufacturer as a screen name would throw them off.

Of course there is this:
The city wants young New Yorkers to hear its latest public-health warning loud and clear: Cranked-up headphones can be hazardous to your hearing.
So much so that the city is planning a $250,000 social media and marketing campaign to warn teens that they risk hearing loss from listening to personal music players at high volume, health officials said Wednesday.

I thought all that was fixed already.
There's been nothing in the news about the continuing homeless conditions, and the plight of the residents, unlike with Katrina and New Orleans.
Probably because Sandy's victims are all rich, and white.
[/sarcasm off]

They really are. An infantile worldview, an obstinate recalcitrance to anything that conflicts with preconceived notions, an overweening desire for attention, an almost complete absence of consequence awareness and a ridiculous overestimation of self. Exactly like a child.
They rail against the well-to-do, yet are the least charitable among us; demanding to be burped by the Federal Government that they want to steal from others for their own benefit for nothing other than envy. "They have toys and I don't. Steal their toys and give them to me." It's pathetic.
All compliments of an increasingly dumbed down indoctrination educational system that teaches down instead of up.

Yep!
BTW, they're touting Christine Quinn as the next Mayor of NY, ummmmm, has anyone heard her speech skills? OMG her voice is horrible!
-
And other pundits say that Quinn is too tied to Bloomberg, and that NYers have Bloomberg fatigue. I guess we'll see.
