Since When Did Normally Well Read, Intelligent, Progressives, Start Trusting Politicians ???
I mean... we do have a history...
Gulf of Tonkin, and the recent version of the Iraq War... to name two.
From June 20, 2012: Trust in Government and Other Institutions Hits New Lows
The latest numbers reflect an ongoing degradation in Americans' opinion of big institutions following the 2008 financial meltdown, the Great Recession, and a decade of declining living standards. The proportion of Americans who say they trust Congress is at 13 percent. Those who trust the presidency and the Supreme Court: 37 percent. Only 21 percent of Americans trust big business or banks. Even educators breed suspicion these days, with just 29 percent of Americans saying they trust public schools.
All of those numbers are at or near record lows. Banks have endured the worst reputational downgrade, with current trust levels 21 percentage points lower than the historical average, according to Gallup. Congress ranks 13 points below the average; public schools, 12 points below. The presidency and Supreme Court and both rank eight points below the norm. The military, as usual, ranks at the top of the list, one of the few institutions that's generating a growing sense of trust.

Well considering progressives think government is the answer to everything wouldn't they have to trust politicians?
It seems to me if you don't trust politicians then you are pretty stupid for wanting to hand over every aspect of your life to them.
Then again no one has ever claimed that progressives are smart.

3. Since 2008, for many. Blind faith and all. But most Americans sense
that our institutions have become corrupt, I think. Seems everything is bs, everywhere you look, and all the politicians and talking heads are just full of it - removed from reality, fake.
I don't know how our institutions, government in particular, can regain the trust of the people.
Not sure it should, and fearful of the future if it doesn't.
I know one way they could regain the trust of the people, but that would pretty much be the end of the Democrat party, they could start being honest.

8. So what's the alternative?
And trust can be relative.
While we live here, they run the country, for better or for worse.
If we weren't interested, we wouldn't be on DU.
So who do you trust, WillyT?

I have to wonder how many well read, intelligent libtards actually exist. Yes, I refuse to lie and call you progressives.
From what I've seen there only exist four main kind of libtards.
1-The rich who want to keep all of their money but feel guilty about it so they want the government to steal money from others and pass it out.
2-The power and money hungry who see the ignorant libtard masses, like those at DU, as useful idiots to use in their quest.
3-Parasites who are too lazy to work and want everything handed to them.
4-The brain-dead who are too stupid to know any different.
Now if the DUmbass known as WillyT is posing his question to the nutjobs at DU the answer to it, as far as they are concerned, is 'always' as long as the politician claims to be for the destruction of all that is good and decent in the USA.

To borrow a term, I would say these are the Type #1 liberals. They are your Bill Ayers, George Soros, and Vladimir Putins of the world.

It's an interesting thread.

6. It's the Father Knows Best wing of the Democratic Party that is inclined to do so.
"History has tried to teach us that we can't have good government under politicians. Now, to go and stick one at the very head of government couldn't be wise." Mark Twain
WillyT ruins it by stating that he "trusts Alan Grayson." And Barbara Lee.

24. No. Pick any date you like
I had hope in Obama. I thought, as an outsider he just might stand up to the machine. Obamacare crushed that foolish idea. He has done nothing since to make me reconsider. Frankly, Obama is one scary dude doing some seriously spooky shit.
