What a sad statement this sequester mess is,
We've essentially been forced into Meatcleaver Austerity, while both parties decide to play the blame game. The only other alternative that is being offered is Austerity Lite, which is going to cut SS, Medicare and/or Medicaid, among other things. Both parties are focusing on paying off the debt, claiming it is a great emergency, when in reality it isn't. But I guess the rich and powerful want their money back, so they are going to take it out of our hides. Meanwhile, nobody is talking about the real solution, growing the economy through stimulus programs, thus lifting all boats.
A pox on both their houses, they are nothing more than tools for 1%. It is time for the people in this country to stop enabling these puppets for the rich and go with another alternative, one that puts the people first.

The real sad thing is, the DUmmies actually believe the propaganda of how these "budget cuts" are a meat cleaver. :whatever:
If we the people survived a 2% budget cut this year, and some folks much more than 2%, then the freaking federal government can decrease the rate of growth in their budgets by 2%. We had actual budget cuts because our paychecks are now smaller, the government will still end up having more to spend next year than they did this year. They just aren't getting as much as they wanted.

35. Agree with your point that the rich do want their money back. But I also have a question:
"...It is time for the people in this country to stop enabling these puppets for the rich and go with another alternative, one that puts the people first..."
How do we do that. All the obvious methods have been tried -- talking, election donations, talking, petitions, talking, letter writing, talking, phone banking, talking, demonstrating, talking, protesting, voting... what, in reality, will talking about "growing the economy through stimulus programs, thus lifting all boats..." do?
Seriously, what's at The People's disposal for stopping anything? A national tax sequester? A national strike? Isn't this country too big for bottom-up change?

38. It isn't "their" money to begin with
It's OUR money which the rich have STOLEN from the rest of us, thanks to corrupt Washington policies and politics.
So you were rich at one time then some other evil rich guy came and stole all your money?
Where do they get this shit that the rich stole from them?
These people are the reason our country is doomed. They want no responsibilities for their own lives, they don't want to be bothered to have to earn a damn thing, and they call those who are responsible and who do earn for themselves greedy. :mental:

people are rightfully proud of our first African American president and really feel the need for Obama to succeed.....so EVERYTHING he does is good, great, in our best interest, a grand chess move.....simply put, they are missing the big picture

63. I think this makes some sense.
I remember the day of his inauguration, and the tears and the hope and the incredible pride.
I think we all had a sense of a tremendous breakthrough, and that things really could be turning around for the better.
You're right. There's a lot of cognitive dissonance involved in acknowledging what this Presidency has actually done, versus the hopes we all had.
Woo me with science gets the notion that there might be other reasons besides scary black man in the White House to oppose Barry. Thoughtcrime.

What is there to be rightfully proud of? Because he is Black? This is what we are proud of? I could care less if he is purple and orange. I want every President to succeed in making this country stronger, healthier, and wealthier. I could care less of the color of the person doing it.
Are we supposed to treat the first of every race and sex that becomes President with some special immunity? I hope not, but since you DUmmies only care about your little voting block groups I am sure we will continue to as long as they have a D beside their name.

Little DUmmies so easily led by the Lamestream Media.

K&Ring for Happy Fun Ball's graph.

Well DUmmies, your boy king wrote it and congress passed it so the boy king could find out what was in it.
-
They have so many threads bitching about how much they've had to economise, but then don't think that the government should be held to the same standard.
Can you imagine their response if there were real, proper cuts to the size of government spending?

As long as they're Union boats, powered by solar panels. Unfortunately, the SS Solyndra sunk.

Yet they say that said SS Solyndra was supposed to be a submarine.

Wonder if this DUmmie has ever sold anything or done work and received pay for it. If you have DUffyDUffy using your own logic you stole it.

The real fear that the donks have is that this 2% reduction in spending increase will have zero effect and let the low info voters understand that the feds could withstand real reductions without noticing anything.
That. Cannot. Happen.

I can understand the confusion but lucky for you I can read DUmmie and translate. The DUmmie is assuming that "the Man" exploited the worker and did not pay a fair wage for the worker's labor. "the Man" was able to do that because of the influence to shape policy and laws their wealth was able to purchase...using money, created from profit by exploiting the worker.

26. This is not "moderate." This is far right politics.
It's quite obvious both parties are in cahoots. The GOP plays the batshit crazy "tea party" card, which forces the Democratic Party to go far to the right of Reagan and even Bush II.
And the improper grammar on my part was to emphasize a point.

I'm sure the muslim and his people will see to it that you feel the effect.
They will target TSA, to generate long lines at airport security.
They will target the Coast Guard, then generate huge stories about anyone who dies at sea due to the Republicans.
They will target ICE, and open the floodgates to illegal mexicans even more than today.
They will target IRS, but only to delay processing of tax refunds.
They've already sold the idea that the sequester is a purely Republican action, so now they will manipulate it to get maximum news exposure.

My thoughts exactly. There's plenty of scope to lower government spending without an effect on the population - but that's the spending which will never be touched.

Reminds me of a joke.
A DUmmie showed up at the Pearly Gates one day wanting in. Saint Peter told it that its name wasn't on the list. The DUmmie, in true DUmmie fashion, stamped its little feet and demanded to be let in because it was a good person human individual.
Saint Peter, in an attempt to rectify the situation, asked the DUmmie if it could tell him any actions where it had actually helped others and showed compassion. The DUmmie puffed up its chest and proclaimed, "I gave a homeless man a quarter once!" That was it. Everything else the DUmmie tried to claim was done with other people's money.
Finally, Saint Peter walked over to God who had been standing by the gate watching and asked, "so what do you want to do?" God shrugged and said, "Give it its quarter back and tell it to go to hell."

Exactly I posted the following in another sequester thread:
Energy and Water Development Appropriations Act supplies $3.2 billion for alternative energy research. While searching for alternative energy options, Congress must ensure that taxpayers do not get burned.
$8,000,000 for Global HIV/AIDS prevention. The Labor/HHS Appropriations Act of 2012 provided $2.3 billion for the HIV/AIDS Bureau for various assistance, treatment, and prevention programs. The Department of State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Appropriations Act provided an additional $5.5 billion to the State Department for HIV/AIDS programs, making this earmark duplicative.
The most preventable disease in the world... as noted it a duplicate of a already funded program.
$5,100,000 for peer-reviewed autism research. Within the FY 2012 Labor/HHS appropriations bill, $69.1 million is already set aside for research on autism.
$10,084,000 for the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal Dispersal Barrier, which has received a total of $14.2 million from nine earmarks since FY 1998.
$114,770,000 for the United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDEF), which supports global democratization efforts. Since FY 2001, UNDEF has received three earmarks totaling $351.8 million. The Obama administration has never requested funding for UNDEF.
I can go on and on and on. Don't tell me we can't ****ing cut spending.
