Teaching Moment: My sone said "those clothes are so GAY!"
So I took him aside, and asked him about it.
His first reaction was "I didn't mean it against gay people, but just saying it looked dumb!"
"'Gay' should not be a slur. Gay people are just the same as you and I.
Don't use that term - it hurts people.
What if I were to describe any person who passes as a 'dirty (son's name here)?"
Since then, he talked to his friends and now THEY aren't using it as a slam anymore.
Teach your children well....
Poor kid. Can you imagine the shame and embarrassment about having to admit to the source of your genes?

Wow, that was a moving story. Reminds me of the episode of the Andy Griffith Show where Opie kills the mama bird with his slingshot but ends up redeeming himself by raising up the orphaned baby birds.

Speaking of druggie parents with children, my husband went on a first responder call last night to the sorriest white trash family. Kid has some health issue, they ask the mom how old he is. "2" she says. Grandmother comes barrelling out of the kitchen, drunk and high, arguing that's he's 3.
When was he born? "April something, 2009." So DUmmie mom cranks up the noggin to do some heavy math. Calculating in her head, she arrives at the fact that he is indeed 2.
All the while sitting on the couch, smoking and texting on her obamaphone. Stubbing out her cig in an ashtray decorated with marijuana leaves.
Damn takers.

Today's "Heartless, Insensitive Mother****ers Award" goes to . . . . .
. . . . the Fountain-Fort Carson School District 8 in Colorado.
Faced with a transgendered child in their school, these paragons of child welfare ban her from the girl's room. I'm sure there's an unevolved segment of their constituency, often seen dragging their knuckles, that thinks this is all just hunky dory.

1. "Sone"? And to think, the Drunken DUchebag regularly refers to Christians, conservatives, etc. as stupid.
2. Sounds like an especially poorly- made bouncy. When he's lecturing his son, in my mind I envisioned that sappy "Serious" music that they used in the show 'Full House' playing in the background. If anything remotely like that actually happened, it probably went more like this in real life:
Having done a couple lines of cocaine, Taverner hears his son saying "That's so gay!"
Taverner immediately charges at his son in a drug- induced rage and backhands him across the face. "What the F&&k did you just say, you little s%%t?"
Trying to hold back tears of fear and pain, the son explains that he didn't mean it to be homophobic, but is cut off by Taverner backhanding him a second time.
Taverner: "Shut the f%%k up! You don't talk like that! Don't you know only I can say bad words and slurs? You sound just like a f%%king right- wing fundy! Now get the f&&k out of my sight and tell your little s&&t friends that they better not talk like that, either! Oh, and if anybody asks where the bruises on your face came from, tell them a conservative fundy pushed you down the stairs!"
The son runs off crying, and Taverner returns to his blow, satisfied at what a good progressive parent he is.
