Why do people still defend capitalism?
I can see acknowledging some of the good things capitalism has done, but it appears that capitalism is on the decline. And yet people staunchly defend. Why? I am seeking serious input, because I have hard time fathoming this?

Yeah capitalism sucks so bad.
Capitalism has only brought us every modern convenience known to man. Capitalism has only made us a prosperous country and once the most prosperous country in the world until just recently.

Nope they haven't.

3. Most people who've grown up being told the "Free Enterprise System" is the only way
for business to work have a hard time imagining a Worker-Directed Enterprise in which the people who create the surplus decide what to do with it. Democracy at work, in other words.
Private capitalism has never been seriously questioned in the United States. 'Course, there are some very good reasons for that.
Under capitalism the people who create the surplus, I'm guessing you mean profits decide what to do with it.
We call them the owners, since they put up the capital and the work into getting the company off the ground, and everyone who helped them along the way gets compensated for what they put in to it. Yes DUmmies they did build that and you are not owed a dime just because your mother decided not to abort you and you now exist.

8. Probably lack of a better system so far.
Communism was an utter failure. Maybe libertarian decentralized communism could work, doubtful though.
The jury is still out on socialism, give it another 50 years and see how well it works.
Capitalisms dark side is showing now, but may run for awhile longer thanks to the former communists embracing it with a gusto.
Nobody has really proposed a better system yet that is workable with human nature.
I think we will ultimately settle for a hybrid capitalism/limited socialism in the long run.
We are heading towards a hybrid limited capitalism/ socialism driven society.

13. Capitalism would die in one year, if
If we took the roads and hiways from being the greatest socialistic program the world has ever seen, and turned it over to private businesses.
Any big truck that wanted down my toll road, I could charge them so much they would eventually go out of business. As owner, i could decide who trucks goods and who doesn't.
Yep, roads are socialism. Owned by the workers, and made available to everyone, pure socialism.
How is that different from what the government is doing?
California just raised the gas tax on top of all the other taxes so basically they are charging the trucks so much that a lot of them will probably end up going out of business.

15. Another point is that Soviet Communism was just another form of capitalism: State Capitalism.
It had more in common with Rockefeller than with Marx, in that the surplus created by workers was appropriated by a small group of elites.
I believe the Mondragon Company in Spain is the closest anyone's come to a real socialist operation.
That's right communism would only work if the right people are in charge. :banghead:
This is sad these idiots were born in to a country that gave them freedoms that a lot of other countries could only dream of, and what are they trying to do with that freedom? That's right they are trying to take that freedom away. :mental:
The US is doomed within a generation if not sooner.

How are roads and highways socialistic? Even the DUmmies living in the underpasses haven't proven to be working in a socialistic manner.

Pay attention, dumb shit! Said truck drivers would find other cheaper routes. You would have to keep your toll low enough to be competitive with people who own other roads. Truck drivers would actually benefit with private road ownership. With government roads, they charge whatever they want because the don't have any competition.

Capitalism has only made us a prosperous country and once the most prosperous country in the world until just recently.
What country is it where people live better than Americans? There is no place on earth even close.

And then, once the truckers are all out of business, you won't be able to collect tolls from them, and you will starve to death in the streets :hammer:

46. That's a very strange way of arguing your point. Give an example where capitalism has
flourished and helped more than just the wealthy. Let's start with Haiti. Now there is an example of what capitalism does.
The keyboard your typing on? :???:

Very true. As much as we all complain about taxes...I know of no conservative who is against them completely. I am very happy to pay for police/fire, road improvements, schools (for the most part).

What about NPR, and Buicks?
Hater.
NPR relies on your tax dollars to support their fund drives.

Ask $kimmer that question next time they look to you for money to keep DU alive.

As in love love with taxes (On the Rich!!!111!!1eLeVenTy11!) as these mopes are, you would think that they would be intimately familiar with the detrimental effects - errr.......uhhhh
wait...
What was I thinking?
Never mind.

Not. One. Even the fairly hard-core Libertarians I know. My only complaints about taxes are where, and especially who, they go to and what piece of unicorn-fart boondoggle they want to flush funding on. Where anybody got the idea that the Dept of Education makes schools any better is beyond me. NPR? Sink or Swim, MFers.
On your own dime. :bird:

The DUmmies should do a little research on Vietnam's Economy.
It's wasn't until they ended collectivization that the economy began to sore. And not until 1986 when they moved largely away from the state owned enterprise to private owner ship that now makes them one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Yes they are still have a partly socialized economy, but has been tinkering more towards capitalism everyday.
Why is this DUmmies? Because it works. Even the communist governments realize everyone makes more money when a free market is at the core of a country's economy.

The difference being is we want limits on taxation and limits on what the government does.
The left wants no limits on taxation and no limits on what the government does.
The only area they don't want the government involved in is, telling them not to murder the unborn, but the government needs to be involved in every other "choice" that we have.
Seriously if women are too stupid to decide what size coke they want, how much salt to put on their french fries, and they sure as hell can't be trusted with a gun because they could pull it out and just start shooting everyone in the parking lot at any moment, why are they all of a sudden wise enough to determine the life or death of another human being just because it is in their womb?
I probably don't need this disclaimer but for the benefit of any lurking DUmmies I am not saying that women are stupid, I am saying that is how women are viewed by the left. And in all fairness us men are just as stupid because we can't be trusted with sodas, salt and guns either, according to the left.

Why do people still defend capitalism? Because some of us want our kids to have a chance at something better than a life of living in a shack and picking cotton on the government collective farm.

Infrastructure is not an example of socialism. It is bought and paid for by capitalism because it is logical. It is not built by government workers with government-produced goods either.
Roads and bridges, like the hallways to your bedrooms, are there because they were bought and paid for out of necessity to function.
F*ck you very much.

Where did the money come from that the government uses to pay for the construction of roads and bridges?
Dummie - "From taxes". Okay, then where does the money to pay taxes come from?
Dummie - "From tax payers". Okay, then where do the tax payers get the money to pay the taxes?
Dummie - "From their employers". Okay, then where do the employers get the money?
Dummie - "They get their money from making and selling stuff to people". Okay, what do you call someone who hires people, makes stuff and sells it to people?
Dummie - "?????"

When we hear that obesity is the greatest threat to not only the poor, but to national security, we know that free market capitalism has done its job.
Any more stupid questions, cretin?

Greece, Spain, Italy, Portuegal, Britain, France, Venezuela, et alia, are prime examples why we do not have to wait 50 years to see how well it works. Just because you are a dummie, I will explain it to you... it don't work.
