Whale Wars Update: Ninth Circuit Calls Sea Shepherd Actions “Piracy”
Here is the opening of Judge Kozinski’s opinion, reversing a lower court ruling and issuing a preliminary injunction in an Alien Tort Statute suit against the Sea Shepherd’s attempts to interfere with Japanese whaling vessels on the high seas.
"You don’t need a peg leg or an eye patch. When you ram ships; hurl glass containers of acid; drag metal-reinforced ropes in the water to damage propellers and rudders; launch smoke bombs and flares with hooks; and point high-powered lasers at other ships, you are, without a doubt, a pirate, no matter how high-minded you believe your purpose to be."

Is this show still on the air?

Yarrr, even the moonbat judges of the Ninth Circus say they be moonbat pirates!
-
So, they have been legally defined as what the rest of us already knew what they were. The question remains, are they now enemies of humanity and subject to being shot on sight? Once you have crossed the legal threshold of piracy (and it appears they have), aren't you subject to the same treatment on the high seas as those Somali assholes?
-
Hm, I wonder whatever came of this.
Paul Watson, Sea Shepherd Founder, Reportedly Flees Germany While On Bail (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/07/25/paul-watson-sea-shepherd-flees-germany_n_1703140.html?utm_hp_ref=green)
Meanwhile (http://www.democraticunderground.com/1014409354), some DUmmy compares the court ruling to the Dred Scott case, a second DUmmy who believes whales are smarter than liberals (most likely), and one lone DUmmy standing against the mob. He must not be a fan of the show.

I've wrung more salty water out of my jockstrap than those ****er will ever sail over, and frankly, from what little I've watched of their shows, you couldn't pay me enough to step foot on that deathtrap of a ship.
-
Well one would have thought that after they lost their little batboat after they rammed a whaler a few years back they would have gave up. To stupid to function on any level.

Yes.
If the Japanese didn't have such restrictive laws on private or corporate ownership of weapons, it already would have happened.
-
If they've been determined to be Pirates...then doesn't that give any fishing/whaling boat they attack the right to repel boarders by any means necessary?

I used to encourage my junior officers to watch it some, in order to see a case study of "What not to do" in small unit leadership.
:rotf:

It's too bad that the crowd that operates the Sea Shepherd hasn't met the same fate as the Rainbow Warrior. :fuelfire:

Looks to me like they've been given a green light to send them to the bottom of the Pacific.
